It was time, Shadow shook me awake, it's exactly midnight. I rubbed my eyes viciously, went to my closet and started to strip. I had forgotten that Shadow was in the room with me, I yelp out-loud and Shadow's face turned bright red. He turned around quickly, not turning back until I said I was done.

"Sorry." I said. Shadow shook his head shyly.

"It's fine." He said confidently, inhaling loudly. I wore a black suit, perfect for sneaking around in the dark, hopefully Eggman turns of the lights before he goes to bed.

"You remember were Eggman's lab is, correct?" Rouge asked. Shadow nodded. "Great, go now."

"Chaos control!" Shadow yelled, holding my hand tightly. I white flash of light hit my eyes, I opened them, I was in the lab, and it was dark. The lights were off and robots spotted in corners were switched off, it was completely silent, all I could hear was Shadow and mine's breathing. I looked over at Shadow who was confidently walking around. I had forgotten that Shadow used to work here...

"Over here!" I whispered pointing at one room. Shadow nodded.

"It has to be in there." Shadow said. My expression changed to a sad one, I remembered when Shadow was being used for Eggman's plans... And yet, he still helped me, helped us.

A boulder chased me, I was helpless, I couldn't do anything but call out for Sonic. Realization hit me, Sonic was saving Sally instead of me, he wouldn't be fast enough to save me. I desperately try to escape the ropes that had hold of me, I couldn't do anything.

"Someone! Please help!" I yelled out. The boulder stopped at my feet, I looked up to see Shadow struggling to hold the boulder. Sonic picked up his speed and kicked Shadow, Sonic grabbed me as I had to watch the boulder win over Shadow.

"I got you, Amy!" Sonic cheered victoriously.

"Help Shadow! You need to save him Sonic!" I demanded. Sonic sighed deeply but did as I was told. Sonic grabbed Shadow and dumped him in-front of me.

"Are you ok?" I asked frantically, placing my hand on his forehead.

"I'm fine." Shadow said coldly, he brushed my hand away, but as stubborn as I was, I hugged him.

"Thank you, Shadow." I said.

Shadow snapped his fingers, trying to get my attention.

"Are you ok?" Shadow asked. I shook my head, trying to get my head out of the past. I looked over to where Shadow was pointing to, it was the bomb. Shadow somehow hacked the password that deactivated the defense system.

"How'd you know the password?" I asked softly.

"Eggman is bad at hiding his passwords, especially when he's typing the code in. He also seemed to have forgotten that I have a really good memory." Shadow whispered, chuckling a little. I smiled lightly whilst I slowly walk towards the bomb.

"Hurry up and take it." I said. Shadow took a firm hold of the bomb and pulled his chaos emerald out, I placed my arm on his shoulder so I would be teleported back too.

"Chaos control!" Shadow shouted. I landed on the floor of the base, Rouge in-front of me.

"Great job, you two." Knuckles commented from behind Rouge. Shadow placed the bomb carefully into the explosive-proof box. I stared at the floor shyly, out of everyone talking, I could hear Shadow breathing.

"Shadow..." I mumbled. Shadow turned to me, waiting for a question for him to answer. "I'll be in my room." I said, walking to my room.

"I'll come." Shadow insisted. He followed me to my room, I opened my light pink door. I laid down on my bed, Shadow stared at me as he closed the door. "Is there anything wrong?"

"No, not really." I lied. Shadow's eyes narrowed, he knew I was lying.

"Amy, I really want to tell you why I left... But I can't. You have to understand." Shadow explained. I was annoyed, but, I had to understand, I don't want to be immature.

"Of course, Shadow." I said forcing a weak smile. He sighed, he sat next to me, wrapping his arms around me, digging his head into my neck.

"I'm really sorry." Shadow whispered. I closed my eyes, drifting to sleep, using Shadow's breathing as some sort of lullaby. As I lost consciousness, I feel as if I already knew why Shadow left.

Shadow and I were surrounded, bad-guys all around us, ready to beat us up.

"You can do whatever you want, just let her go." Shadow said heroically. I whimpered, about to cry, holding onto Shadow's shoulder as if it were Sonic's.

"Shadow..." I whispered weakly. "You can't..." I said, tears forming.

"I'll make a deal with you..." One of the guys said. He stepped forward, he was a squirrel, wearing ragged clothes.

"What?" Shadow asked, somewhat frightened. The squirrel, which seemed to be the leader of the other guys, smirked evilly.

"You come with us, or she's-"

"Hurry up, cops are coming!" One of the other guys said.

"Meet us here next week." The squirrel demanded, as he, and the rest of the gang ran for it.

I woke up breathing heavily, that incident, that dream, that memory, was real. It happened a week before... Shadow disappeared. My eyes shoot towards Shadow, he's still asleep.
