I groan as I lift my head off my pillow, Shadow is in the bathroom washing his face. I fall back onto the pillow with a massive pain in my head. Shadow turns to the sound of my groans of pain.

"You aren't looking too good... You look pale." Shadow comments.

"Really?" I ask, feeling my own forehead. "I'm just tired."

"If you say so..." Shadow says but doesn't stop staring at me. I get up weakly and get changed slowly, I couldn't move as fast as I could and every time I moved my head I would feel a sudden stab of pain. It obviously caught Shadow's attention, but I hoped he brushed it off as a bad morning. I open the door and make my way to the training room where Snow the hedgehog and Blaze the cat awaited me. I pick up a knife and stand still, ready for Blaze to make her fire attack. Blaze's fire burned and flew straight at me, I barely dodged and fell to the floor. I try my best to try get back to my feet but it felt as if my head suddenly weight a ton. Snow ran over to me and took the knife away from me.

"Amy, are you alright?" Snow asks. My friends that were present in the training room came to check on me. I started to breathe heavily and I couldn't speak.

"I... I can't..." I can barely say with a croaky voice. Sticks jumps off the fake tree in the training room and picks me up.

"Let's take her to Tails." Sticks suggests, Marine behind her nodding in agreement. I loose consciousness as soon as I see Shadow running in to see me on the floor with everyone gathering around me.

My eyes open to a bright light in-front of me, I look beside me to see a table with needles and bottles. Shadow places his hand on my head, I can tell it's Shadow because of how warm and feeling his hand is, and I was right. When I looked up to see my loving boyfriend's face, I was surprised to not see a heartwarming smile, Shadow had tear marks on his cheeks and his eyes were still teary. I try to adjust my eyes to the bright light, Shadow sees that I'm partially awake. Shadow stays next to me on the right side of the bed whilst I see Tails struggling to read graphs on my left.

"Tails...?" I croak, trying to move my aching body.

"Amy... This may sound weird but... How long do you think you've been out in the wild?" Tails asks nervously.

"I've been out more than anyone else." I reply. Tails scratches his head.

"You have a disease called 'Malaria'." Tails said as Shadow placed his forehead on my hand. I turn to Tails worried.

"What does it do?" I ask. Tails brings out some notes and puts on his glasses.

"Malaria is caused by parasites, primarily Plasmodium falciparum or Plasmodium vivax. Female Anopheles mosquitoes pick up the parasites by feeding on infected humans. The parasites develop in a mosquito's body for 10 to 18 days, then is passed on when the mosquito injects saliva while feeding... Once in the human body, malaria parasites migrate to the liver, where they grow and multiply. Eventually the parasites move into the blood stream to developing in red . As they multiply and are released, they destroy the blood cells..." Tails says weakly.

"What does it do...?" I ask, Shadow suffering to hear this.

"Those infected begin to show symptoms such as fevers, chills, sweating, headaches and other flu-like conditions. The infection can sometimes produce even more severe reactions, including kidney failure and death, especially if left untreated..." Tails says as he places his papers on his desk.

"No..." I cry. "This... This can't be..." I weep, grabbing onto Shadow while I start to sob.

"It's... It's going to be hard but I can preform surgery." Tails suggests. Ray the flying squirrel walks in with a table filled with scary objects and needles.

"Please..." Shadow begs.

"I'll try, with all my heart." Tails says as he holds onto my hand tightly. "You'll have to wait outside. This will take all day..." Tails says, slipping on a doctor's mask and gloves. Shadow kisses my hand and walks out of the room. The slam of the door frightened me, it made me feel vulnerable and weak, like I had no one beside me anymore.

Author's note:

Hi everyone, I wanted to do a chapter describing how scary it is to have a disease called Malaria, yes, the disease I just described is real and more information about mosquito diseases are from this page, http://www.mosquitoworld.net/when-mosquitoes-bite/diseases

Whoever is sick and just wants to enjoy fanfic, I EMPLOY.

Sorry this one is short but the next chapter, I'm sure will be longer.
