Chapter 2 - Found

I sat with Sonic, listening to his story about how he didn't want to marry Sally. I sat through it, trying my best not to show that I didn't care. Rouge came jogging over, she handed me some files about our new base.

"It's in the forest here." Rouge pointed at the edge of the map.

"Cool, what about it?" I asked.

"Ratings show that there is 'someone' living in that forest area, I want you to find out if they own the land." Rouge said. "There's no exact location."

"Got it. I'll go now." I said as I stood up from my chair. "Sorry Sonic, maybe we can figure this out another time, huh?" I said cracking a smile.

"Yeah..." Sonic sighed. I grabbed a motorbike from the back and drove out. Against the wind, I still had my short hair that was as pink as ever, I wore a pink shirt with black leggings. I found myself at the entrance of the forest.

"Now let's just find this guy..." I mumbled to myself. I could smell another person, caves and ditches were everywhere. I could hear breathing coming from one cave, it echoed, making it harder to spot where exactly it was coming from.

"Hello?" I shouted out. "I need to talk to you?" I yelled again. The heavy breathing turned into somewhat sobbing, I looking over to a patch with no grass, to find... Shadow! It's Shadow!

"Shadow!" I screamed as I tackle hugged him. I looked over at him, that's when I noticed his eyes, they were barely red like they used to be. I looked at the rest of his body, there were bruises and scratches all over, he was skinny, he was starving!

"Amy..." Shadow stuttered. I picked him up and quickly put him on my motorbike. Shadow's head leaned on my shoulder, I rode away to the large building that was our base, where all my friends were.

"Tails!" I yelled out whilst carrying Shadow on my back. I ran into his lab, Tails the fox and Ray, the flying squirrel, like to preform experiments. They are both doctors, I was sure they could help Shadow. 

"Amy?" Ray asked. Tails stood in shock as he has already seen Shadow on my back.

"Quickly! Ray put him on the table!" Tails said. "We'll handle this Amy. I'll make sure everyone knows that we've found Shadow, you can go relax." Tails said. I walked out of the lab, I was still in shock. After all this time... Shadow...

"Amy!" Rouge yelled. "Everyone knows, you found Shadow!"

"Yeah... He's in pretty bad shape though..." I said looking over at the door of the lab.

"Shadow's strong, he trusts you more than any of us so, I want you to question him when he's ready, alright?"

"Yeah, you got it Rouge." I replied. I look over at the list of my friends. Knuckles and his sister Tikal were also looking at the list with me.

"Nice job with finding Shadow, I know it must be amazing to you." Tikal said as she smiled lightly.

"Thanks, Tikal" I replied. I look over at the lab door where I see Tails poking his head out, signalling me to come. I walked in to see Shadow, asleep, on the lab table.

"Since you're the closest to Shadow, I want you to take care of him, put him on your bed in your room. Press the button on the side of the bed if you need help with anything." Tails ordered. I nodded as I picked up Shadow and took him to my room.

"There." I whispered to myself as I tucked Shadow in my grey coloured bed. I sat next to Shadow, I watched him drift further away in his sleep. "You wouldn't believe how many things changed Shadow, we're all part of a secret team... All because we all missed you."

"Thanks." Shadow groaned as he lifted his head.

"Shadow!" I yelled as I gave him a big heartwarming hug. He hugged back with a pink cheeks and a smile.

"I missed you Amy... Sorry." Shadow said.

"What happened anyway?" I asked. Shadow froze, he had a worried expression plastered onto his face.

"I'll answer that question for another day..." Shadow mumbled. I crossed my arms, I wasn't happy that when he just met again, he's already keeping secrets.

"You'll get your spot on the list."

"What list?" Shadow asked.

"List of what we are, I'm on defense, you would be on defense too, I'm sure Rouge has already put you on there." I said.

"Why defense?" He questioned.

"Eggman is after us, he's trying to kill all of us." I said grabbing some papers out of my draw.

"Where are we?" Shadow asked.

"Underground. We're getting a bigger base in the forest you were in." I said. Shadow flinched at the sound of that idea. I glared at him, waiting for him to explain himself, he knew this.

"Look, I was gone because of some bad people, if you want that new base, make sure it's not near the edge of the state." Shadow said.

"That was the plan anyway." I said. Shadow stared at me for a long time.

"You've changed." Shadow pointed out.

"Thanks for noticing." I replied. Shadow smirked, he laid his head back onto the black fluffy pillow.
