"Sometimes the person you'd take a bullet for is the person behind the trigger."
"Are you kidding me?", I asked with a trembling red lip. I spoke into the transmitter of my phone, the phone he'd gotten me on my 21st birthday last year. "You're breaking up with me over the phone?"
I shook my head in disbelief of what I was hearing. In the background of the audio there was a slight resonation. He was probably in his practice room, the only place he could find to be alone.
"I just don't have time to date you anymore, Jisoo.", Was his muffled response.
He said he didn't have time, but I knew that was just an excuse. The truth was, my members and I had just won our third Inkigayo in a row. He had probably become jealous of my success. Like so many men I had met before, he felt emasculated because of his girlfriends prosperity and the lack of his own. Deprived of his male identity... Pathetic.
"Fine. You know what, fine.", Taking in a deep, trembling breath I unleashed all my stress onto him, "I was just using you for dinner anyway. How could I love you? You never watched Pokemon with me. You wouldn't cosplay with me. You probably didn't even know the first 151. I'm glad we're taking a break. In fact, I hope it lasts forever... Until you learn how to treat me and Pokemon right."
"Wait wh-",
before he could continue talking nonsense I turned off my phone. My hand trembled with anxiety. I did so much for him, but he never did anything for me. This was what happened in all my relationships. They never gave me the things I liked or treated me the way I wanted. They were all the same, and I was sick of it.
Tears pricked at my eyes, but I refused to let them flow. I was out with my friends right now. They were having a good time, how could I ruin that with my own unhappiness?
I walked back over to them with a smile while smoothing down my skirt. "Back from the bathroom.", I announced. Rose scooted to make room for me in the booth and I sat down next to her.
After that we were chatting, laughing, and just generally having a great time, until I saw what Rosé had ordered. Kalguksu. He loved Kalguksu.
I had kept up the act until then, but once I saw that I knew I couldn't take it anymore.
"His favorite food was Kalguksu..."
Rose stopped talking to Lisa and glanced at me. "You say something?"
The tears started falling. Then the sniffles started coming. Finally the gross sobbing where I choked on my own snot.
"WAAAAHH HE BROKE UP WITH MEEEE", I wailed, clinging onto Rosé like a newborn child.
By now all the members were staring at me like I was insane, along with the rest of the restaurant. Rosé hesitantly tried asking questions but eventually gave up when she realized she couldn't understand what I was saying through the blubbering.
"and he- n-never- e-eeven sang- th-the the-theme song wi-th-th m-e-e-eeee....", I sobbed into Rosé's shoulder. The confused Rosé looked to Lisa for help, but she just shrugged.
"She's probably drunk. I know Jennie is."
Jennie giggled, nearly falling out of her chair again, "Youuu know I amm Lalalissa~", she said in a sing-song voice.
Rosé and Lalisa both sighed. Lisa sighed with depression because she couldn't drink. Rose sighed with relief because she couldn't drink.
"Let's just go home.", Rosé mumbled.
