                                                                            Or Ego's at Least....

Chunks of ship parts rained down from above like some rain cloud got water confused with metal. The heat from explosions was sometimes too close for comfort and more often than not I found myself retreating from gunfire instead of being on the offensive. We were just simply outnumbered. There were too many of them and too little of us.

Just as I shot down a Sovereign ship, I noticed our ship shooting out lasers like a deadly disco ball. I heard yelling from below and saw that Drax, Gamora, and Mantis barely missed getting hit. Ego's anger flared up and he was heading straight for their little group. Drax was yelling something to Mantis before she stuck her hand in a crack in the ground and yelled "SLEEEEEP!"

The monster dissipated and nobody was injured. I landed next to her as I continued to fire at Sovereign ships. "I don't know how long I can hold him!" Mantis shouted.

Quill was flying all around and back and forth from where Rocket was with Groot and the bomb. A rock came tumbling down and hit Mantis in the head, rendering her unconscious. "Mantis, look out!"

"Sometimes I wonder if your reflexes are those of a dead cat!" I told him. I picked her up and handed her over to the hulking dude. Gamora strapped on an aero rig against his protest. "Take her up to the ship!" Gamora shouted as he blasted off.

At some point, Yondu and Nebula crash landed after their epic light show and they joined our group. That is, until we split up to fight the Sovereign and the now awakened Ego.

Quill came flying over. "Hey! Do you have any tape, (Y/N)?"

I turned my head and blasted a ship from the sky without looking at it. "Why do you think I would have tape? Rocket's the only person who would have any. Ask him."

"He's the one that needs it!" Quill shouted before taking off again. "Hey, Nebula! Do you have any tape?"

I rolled my eyes as Quill went to each and every member of our crew asking for tape. Quill made his way back up to the tunnel they made and I followed suit.

"Nobody has any tape. If anybody has tape it would be you!" Quill said before turning to blast some more enemies. I landed in the mouth of the tunnel but Rocket hadn't noticed.

"Rocket do this.' 'Rocket do that!' Geez, I gotta be fucking responsible for everything!" He shouted then sighed before going to Groot. "Okay, now tell me the order you're supposed to press the buttons."

"I am Groot."

"Uh-huh."

"I am Groot."

"Yup."

"I am Groot?"

"No-o!! Oh my God, how is that even freaking possible?! You already said that and it was wrong!"

"I am Groot!" Groot waved to me and Rocket turned around. "Aw shit. How long have you been there?"

I laughed. "Long enough."

"Rocket! You're making him nervous. Don't yell at him!" Quill yelled as he coasted by the tunnel.

"Shut up, Quill! I don't see you helping out here!"

"Uuhh... Rocket?"

"What do ya want?" He shouted at me. I pointed to little Groot running away with the detonator.

"Oh my God. We're all gonna fucking die."

With nothing else to do in the tunnel, we joined the fray waiting for us outside. Ego's blue rock tentacle things were giving everybody a hard time and we all struggled to keep up with the never ending assaults. Red streaks contrasted against blue as Yondu's arrow sailed through the air, but these damned things were like Hydra. Cut off one head, two more appear.

I blasted away and occasionally used some martial arts. I only had a few arrows left – two explosives and one electric one. I couldn't use them near the team because I didn't want them to get injured, too, so I decided to aim right for Ego's big blue face.

"Eat that." I said and loosed an electric arrow with an explosive one right behind it. He roared and temporarily gave us the upper hand to defeat the tentacles surrounding us. "YES!" I cheered.

The roaring ceased and suddenly Quill was the one who screamed as tentacles pierced nearly every limb of his body. He hung limply as the newly recovered human form of Ego approached us. I did a head count and noticed Gamora and Nebula were unaccounted for.

A tentacle wrapped its way around Rocket while four reached up for me. I had one for each arm and one for each leg. The ground beneath my feet had turned into some form of quicksand and I was stuck. Yondu fought and lost against tentacles as he was being slowly squished by rocks.

"I-I can't..." Peter barely whispered. "I c-can't...control it.."

"Boy, you think I make this arrow fly with my head? It use my hear-" Yondu was engulfed by the rubble. Rocket struggled in vain against being crushed. I was already up to my chest in quicksand. "Peter.." I pleaded with him through my eyes but he was unseeing, trapped in some memory inside his head. I was up to my chin in quicksand when I noticed a cool breeze and the ground beginning to tremble. Peter's look of helplessness was gone, replaced by a palpable anger. The glare he gave his father should have incinerated him on the spot.

"You shouldn't have killed my mom and squished my Walkman!" Peter let out a yell as he tore free from the tentacles and launched himself at Ego. I was relieved from the quicksand and Rocket and Yondu had broken free from their traps as well.

Ego and Peter were battling to the death and I worried for our friend. "Come on! We have to get out of here!" Rocket urged me. "I'll meet you up there!"

I flew upwards, trying to dodge falling debris as the planet collapsed around us. A few minutes later I found myself aboard the ship with Gamora, Kraglin, Nebula, Drax, and Mantis. "Rocket is coming right behind me." I told them.

Sure enough, there he was. Rocket landed before he started barking orders. "Alright, let's go."

"Wait! Rocket! Where's Quill?" Gamora asked. Drax and Kraglin had already gone up to start the ship.

Rocket didn't give her an answer. "Where's Quill?!" She said with more force. "I'm not leaving without him!" She reached over and grabbed a gun. Before she could walk out of the ship, Rocket fired his gun which sent electric shocks through her body, causing her to black out. "I can only lose one friend today." Rocket said as he closed the ship.

"Rocket! Where's Quill?" Drax's voice echoed over the speaker system. "WHERE'S QUILL?! ROCKET!"

I couldn't help the tears from falling down my face as Rocket stood off to the side of me, his shoulders and head hanging in defeat.

"Please tell me we aren't gonna lose Peter." I whispered then shouted when he didn't answer. "TELL ME!" Sobs wracked my body so hard that my ribs hurt and I couldn't breathe. I felt my heart literally cracking in two as my world crumbled around me, just like Ego's planet. I curled in on myself into a tiny ball and laid like that in the floor while Rocket rubbed my back. But no comfort in the world would be able to stop my crying.
