Look outside
at the glittering raindrops
that bring back memories
Of splashing in puddles
and catching drops on your tongue
and singing
rain,
rain,
go away
Just by looking
at the glitter
of
the
drop
Rebecca POV
It was raining outside and I was looking at an old scrapbook with Mandi. We were at about age four and she pointed one out, "Look how cute!"
I looked. The picture she was pointing to had two little girls sticking their tongues out, with their bright yellow rain coats and matching pink rain boots. The girl's dark curls are glued to her forehead by the wetness, and the other girl's hair is parted in the middle so the hair sticks to the sides of her young, cheeky face. I looked at another one. A young girl splashing in a puddle, her eyes shut tight and her bright smile dazzling up the rainy day. Another picture was a candid shot of the same two girls holding hands and walking. The next picture was the girls singing and dancing. I thought of the song "Rain, Rain, Go Away." The two young girls were Mandi and I. After I looked at us singing in the rain I burst into tears.
I don't wanna grow up.
When you were little, you didn't care what you looked like, how your hair looked, or if your clothes were pretty. You didn't care if you made scribbles you were as creative as can be. Bu't now you care about it.
When you were little you colored outside the lines, now you are doing your best to stay inside.
