'Just Look Over Your Shoulder'

As I look over my shoulder

She is there

Standing with her bright smile

And daring eyes

Keeping me strong

With her actions

Amd her words

Keeping me with her

And I shall keep her with me

As she tells me,

"Just look over your shoulder."

Rebecca POV

Today I now know that Mandi will be there for me no matter what. I also know that we are total opposites. Despite us being twins, we are really nothing alike. The only thing I can relate to her about is books and music. We both love to sing, but she is a lot better than me. She is in choir at school, and I might join this upcoming semester.

But as for books, we like all the same things. From 'Little Women' to 'Divergent' we are basically on the same page. Reading helps us to grow as a person. You read about things you could never do and by watching the characters pursue their hopes and dreams, you want to too.

I was in a noisy bus today, boys screaming that they beat a level on their hand-held devices, and girls screaming about boys and princesses. The driver yells at them, and after twenty seconds they continue on with their piercing screams. So I decided to read a book. I grabbed 'Hatchet' from my book bag and started reading. It really took me away to the woods, surviving on my own. hearing the chatters of children turn into chirps of bids, and the yelling into the buzzing of the bugs. The wind from outside the bus window stayed the same, it was wind but was brushing against leaves and branches. The annoying children turned into somewhat noisy animals. A hatchet on my belt, I was ready to go.

Then the bus got to my stop.

See what reading can do? It can take you into places you would never imagine you would be.

As for music, we like the same artists. Music is like books, escaping the world. As I reach into my bag, I grab my headphones and bring them up to my ears where they belong. The flowing music goes deep into my soul and my heart. The beauty of the sound just clears your mind and stops the worrying. Music keeps you moving to the rhythm and no matter how far you go in your life you have the music in you to keep you calm.

Mandi and I know the importance of escape. We know that no matter what, the sounds of music and the words of books free us. She is always there, knowing my problem and helping me solve it. She helps me to escape, she shows me new artists and authors, and is always giving me good advice.

She's always there and I hope she will be here for me forever.

I just have to look over my shoulder. She'll be there.

She always is.
