Shawns POV

"Mom it really hurts!" I grab curl up in my bed and I can't move. Part of my stomach hurts like crazy and I'm getting worried. 

"Okay I need you to stand up for me." My mom says and helps me out of bed. "I can't, it hurts." I say  and I'm not going to deny the fact that I'm crying.

"Okay let's get you to the hospital. Manny!" My mom calls for my dad as she gets my thimgs together.

Not long after my whole family was in the car and we are on our way to the hospital. 

"Is Shawn going to die?" Aaliah asks and looks at my mom. "No Aaliah I'm not dying!" I say and lean back in my seat.

We arrive at the hospital and I'm checked out by a doctor. "Okay we need to get Shawn  into surgery. His appendix needs to be taken out." The doctor says.

"Surgery?" I ask and look at my mom. "How long is the recovery time for this?" My dad asks.

"About three to four weeks. He's going to need be taken care of very well so he can heal up." The doctor says.

"Okay we'll figure something out." My mom says. "Great way to spend he summer eh?" Aaliah says and I roll my eyes.

My  family was suppose to go to South America this summer to see my dads family. That was the plan before all of this happened.

I was taken back to an operating room and put to sleep. Everything  after that I don't really remember.

Aish's POV

 "Aish! Aish where are you?" I hear my mom voice. "In the kitchen!" I yell and then a minute later my mom walks in.

"I need to talk to you." She says. "Yeah?" I ask as I stir the noodles I have boiling in a pot on the stove.

"You remember my friend Karen right? You used to be friends with their son." She says and I give her a look.

"I wouldn't say that we were friends, but yeah I remember." I say. "Well they were planning to go to South America to visit family, but Shawn got appendicitis." She says.

"Well that sounds painful." I say. "It is. Well he's going to need to be taken care of for the next four weeks. The only thing is that they already have their plane tickets and they can't cancel their plans." My mom says and then pauses.

"And?" I ask and look at her. I don't really like where she is going with this. "I told Karen that you could stay with Shawn and take care of him so that they could take their trip." She says.

"What? Why would you do that?" I ask. "Do not raise your voice with me. They needed someone to do it and you said you want to be a nurse right?" My mom says and I sigh.

"Yeah but-" "No buts. You're doing it. You need to go over there tonight. So go pack some clothes because you'll be staying over there." She says.

"You're not worried that anything will happen? He is a guy." I say using that as an excuse to get out of this. "He just had surgery Aish. I don't think anything  will be happening." She says.

I sigh and just nod because there is no point in arguing with her. "Fine." I say.

After dinner I went and packed clothes and my things. I just turned sixteen and got my license so I grab my keys and go put my things in my car.

"Thank you honey for doing this." My mom says as she helps me put my things in the car. 

"Yeah well I didn't really have a choice did I?" "No you didn't. Have fun." She says and kisses my forehead." She she watches me get in my car and drive away.
