Gemma finally left our table as the program started. I felt that relief when Matty's hand found mine and he laced his fingers around mine. It was a comforting feeling when he holds my hand and when he would look at me with a smile.

The awarding part of the program started and everyone seemed so relaxed, still on their seats just clapping at anyone who won an award. I remembered what Matty said about music not being a competition last time they won something.

It was inspiring that he thinks that way. Every other musician or celebrity should think the same way, because nothing is a competition in their little celebrity life. And you would feel alot better about yourself, because you're not worried about pleasing everybody because you want to win something.

"And for best new artist.. this award goes to..." the man on stage announced and my grip on Matty's hand tightened. He smiled at me "Jamie, babe.. if we win or not its alright" he said in a soft voice. I nodded, but the suspense was killing me.

"The 1975!!"

the man announced and people cheered and applaud as they stood up. Matty beamed and kissed me on the cheek, before marching up stage with George, Ross and Adam on suit. I gazed at them in awe and pride. I was so happy, because they deserve this award and it means so much to me just seeing Matty smile so much.

Matty cleared his throat and stood up by the microphone with the award on his hand, he looked at it like it was a piece of gold. He then searched the crowd and found me again, with a smile he said a speech..

"Good evening, everyone. wow, this is amazing.. We've been nomimated before, for the same category. And surprisingly we won again this time. Im so very proud of what this band has become. We started out small, and I cant believe we're here upstage for this award show.

I want to thank everyone, our friends and families who are ever supportive of this art we do. Our special someones, who understand and support us all the way.. The fans, we wont make it here if it werent for our lovely fans. They've been there for us, and its just so heart warming to feel so loved by a bunch of strangers who share a love for music and is passionate about it.

Thank you, for appreciating the art we do, the music we produce with every inch of our soul and heart.. we put to it. For this award, it means so much to us. I cant say anymore thanks for this! Have a good night everyone. "

Matty's word struck my heart and it made me cry. Im so happy and so proud of him. I cant be any happier to hear him say such lovely words. I cant believe it either, that they've gone so far already. I watched as they headed back for their seats, being greeted by a bunch of other musicians along the way.

Matty smiled at me as I hugged him tightly "that speech was amazing" I told him and he kissed me quickly "thank you.. I mean every word, from start to finish" he laughed as we return to our seats. He was about to say something else when my phone started buzzing on my clutch. I groaned as I dug for it to look at who ever was calling.

Home.

I let out a sigh. Probably going to bug me about money again, or whatever. The call stopped and I checked, there were 10 missed calls and a few messages from the same number. I scrunch up my eyebrows. "what is it, love?" he asks as he wraps an arm around my shoulder.

I shrugged "something is up.." I simply said as I read one of the messages and I thought I almost dropped my phone. They were a bunch of pictures from my stepmother's son's number, pictures of my father.. all pale and looked almost dying, in a hospital bed with machines around him and a bunch of wires and tubes here and there. And the last message saying.

"your father fell in a coma a week ago, and he was diagnosed with brain tumor and a non-responding kidneys. come home soon, or call at least. thanks -paul"

I remembered the same time my mother was diagnosed with kidney failure. And I shook my head to fight away the tears. I know my father was such an asshole to have moved on so quickly from the death of mom, but he was basically the only family I have left in America. Matty looked at me warily and I shook my head...

"my dad is dying.."
