Before starting the chappie, I wanted to make it clear that James knew Asher and Katherine were dating but Trevor didn't. Sorry for the confusion :/
—Katherine's POV—
The man standing in front of me was looking at me with wide eyes. I bet I mirrored the same expression. For a few minutes, everything seemed to go in slow motion. Even though Asher had his hand entwined with mine, my hand still felt numb. I couldn't feel if he was tightening his hold on my hand or anything. My watery eyes flickered behind my father and instantly connected with my mother's worried and teary eyes.
At that moment I untangled my hand from Asher's grip and went straight in my mother's embrace. She hugged me tightly, rocking us back and forth. Her breathing was ragged and her heart was beating faster than a fast and furious Mustang. Thank God that the girls were already asleep. At least they wouldn't have to face this ignorant man also known as my father.
"Kathy oh my, I had no idea that he-he would come." My mother sobbed even harder than before and tightened her arms around me. I wanted to cry but I couldn't. I slowly pried my mother's arms off me and took two steps back. She was wiping her cheeks with the back of her hand. My father stood there emotionless and stiff. I noticed that the door was already closed meaning that Asher had gone back home.
I could talk to him later but now this man needs to justify himself as to why he's here at my house! Glaring at him with all the hatred I had in me, I asked him in a harsh manner.
"What the hell are you doing here?!"
He looked at me with soft eyes and took a step towards me. I stood where I was and continued to glare at him. When he was a couple of feet in front of me, he said.
"You've grown so much. You look just like your mother. Beautiful."
I scoffed and rolled my eyes and said, "Lets not talk about how pretty I have gotten. Let's talk about why you waltzed back into our lives like nothing ever happened?!"
I was practically screaming at the last part. I was livid! There was silence in the living room. The only sound was of my ragged breathing. Mom was sitting on the couch with her head in her hands. I can truly feel what she's going through at the moment.
"Katherine honey-"
"Don't honey me. Just answer the question and not so kindly get out of my house!"
His eyes darkened with anger and his nose flared a bit. Truth to be told, he looked like a bull ready to pounce on the red cloth. I could care less about him getting angry. He had the audacity to strode back into our lives as if he came back from a vacation.
"I know you are not happy to see me but I will not accept your insolent behavior with me Katherine. I'm still your father no matter what."
I bit the tip of my tongue and clenched my teeth in response. So he thinks that he can sway back in our lives as if nothing happened and start to show his 'fatherly' attention on me! Hell no! My mother had stopped crying but still her small sniffs and whimpers could be heard when there was pin drop silence in the room.
My father sighed and massaged his temple and said in a softer tone, "Sorry. I didn't mean to talk to you in that way. It's just, I'm seeing you after many years and the way you talked back to me just pierced my heart."
At this I had to scoff in an unattractive way. I mean why wouldn't I scoff at his lame statement. I tried my best to control my tongue which was working faster than a damn pair of scissors.
"Look." I said with an exasperated sigh. "Like I said before, I don't want your sorry. I want to know what you're doing back here? After three years? Why not five? Or maybe ten? Or maybe NEVER!!"
