--Katherine's POV--
The minute his hand came off, I started thwacking his chest with as much force I could muster. He stood there like a statue and didn't even flinch! Gah! He's so annoying and arrogant and mean and the list goes on and on.
What the hell is he made of?! My hands hurt so bad but I can't stop the thwacking! This cockroach dragged me in the closet and gave me a cardiac arrest!
"You."
Thwack on the chest.
"Stupid."
Another slap on the back of his head.
"Crazy."
Another one.
"Cockroach!"
The final thwack was on his chest which made him stumble a bit. I mentally patted myself on the back for making him move a little! My breathing was hard and Asher seemed to stand there unfazed with all my beating and punches.
"What is wrong with you? You dragged me to the closet nearly giving me a heart attack!" My eyes were practically the size of basketballs and he seemed at ease like nothing happened at all.
"You're alive right? So that means you had no cardiac arrest babe. Stop with the exaggeration." He just wants to get slapped that's why he's muttering all this crap to me.
"Shut up! Why the hell did you bring me here? To insult me some more? You could've done that in the hallways, you had audience also!" The sudden anger in me was slowly starting to rise every second. His words kept on replaying in my mind. The way he looked at me; with disgust, as if I was some dirty stain on his shirt.
"Hot stuff-"
I cut him off by shaking my head at him.
"Don't call me that. My name is Katherine, not hot stuff." Asher opened his mouth to protest but I wasn't having any of it. I was beyond angry at him.
"I don't want to talk to you. I actually thought that maybe, just maybe, under all that hard exterior, a heart is there. I was wrong. What did you take me for huh? Did you think I was some stupid girl who would fall at your feet and worship you?"
All traces of amusement was gone from his eyes and only expressionless eyes bored through mine. He looked in thought. I continued my speech before he could interrupt me.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you Asher, but I'm not like those girls. I know you must be thinking 'That's what they all say' but believe me when I say this. I hate falling in love! You know why? 'Cause love doesn't exist!"
My vision was blurry and I inwardly cursed myself. I promised myself that I won't cry in front of him again, but look what's happening!
I slid down the wall and buried my head in my knees. Things from the past keep popping in my mind and it made me cry a river! I felt Asher sit down beside me but he didn't say anything.
I cried for I don't know how long but I felt myself being lifted off the ground and being situated on Asher's lap. I struggled to get off his lap but he held me down. I looked up at him and saw him giving me a concerned look, which he rarely shows.
I broke down again and snuggled in his chest. Don't think I'm not angry at that baboon, I still am. I just need some comforting and then I'll be back to normal.
"Hey its okay." I felt his hand rub my back soothingly. My sobs turned to sniffs and whimpers. I didn't say anything and just stayed there for sometime.
After ten minutes had passed, I pulled my head back and went to get off his lap. Asher tightened hold on me but I managed to pry his arms off me. We both stood up and cleaned the dust on our pants. My bag was lying on one corner so I went and fished for the small mirror I always kept with me.
My face was red and blotchy. My eyes were swollen and puffy, in reality I looked like a huge mess. My cheeks were still wet from my tears so I wiped them away.
"Are you really mad at me hot stuff?" I rolled my eyes at him. How more dumb can he get? Seriously boys never think with their brain sometimes.
"No, I was just rehearsing for the act I was given." I gave him my best fake smile and he sighed out a relief. My smile vanished and I glared at him. Understanding dawned at him and he let out a nervous laugh, while rubbing his neck.
"You were serious. I uh, I'm s-s-sorry. There, I said it." He gave me the famous puppy dog look.
There was no way I'm falling for that puppy dog look, na-uh! I narrowed my gaze at him and he lost the puppy dog look. I took a step forward and he took one back. This carried on till his back hit the wall and I was closer to his face.
"I didn't even want your sorry. What do you think huh, that you'll say one word and I'll forgive you in a matter of seconds? Think again Asher Collins!"
I grabbed my bag and swung open the door and left his so called sorry bum inside the supply closet. It was half past three and I had to pick up the double trouble from school on the way.
Little Diamonds, the school's name, was a good fifteen minute from my school. Since mom is the only one working with three jobs, our financial condition is kinda limited. We have only one car which mom takes to work.
"Oh hello Katherine dear!" Mrs. Chelsea welcomed me to with a warm smile. She was in her late forties with red/orange hair and a motherly face with jade eyes. I smiled softly at the lady and gave her a one side hug.
"Where are they?" She smiled and told me they were in class with their other friends. I went to the classroom and found Rebecca and Rachael coloring on the paper. I went and knelt down beside them and softly blew air in their ears causing them to squeal.
The turned around and simultaneously shouted, "Kathy!"
I was engulfed in a monstrous hug by the two buggers, it always melted my heart when those two screamed my name in happiness and joy. After getting them all packed up and saying bye to their teachers and friends, all three of us made our way back home with small chit chat here and there.
"So how was your day girls?" I was holding of their hands in mine. I didn't get an answer as both of them were busy sucking the lollipops the teacher had given. Both of them had a sweet tooth just like their big sister.
We had reached home and I was giving the girls a bath. They pleaded that they wanted a bubble bath with their favorite strawberry and watermelon scented bubbles. I ran them the bath as I had nothing to do till mom arrives.
After the girls were all cleaned and dressed up in a fresh pair of clothes, I went to the kitchen to prepare us some food. I was making grilled cheese sandwiches which the girls seemed to love. The sandwiches were done and I was about to take a bite out of that cheesy goodness when the doorbell rang.
"Somwone's thwere Kwhathy." Rachael said with her little mouth filled with food. I gave the little bugger a two minute lecture about not to talk with your mouth full.
I washed my hands and went to the door, where whoever was outside was getting impatient. Sheesh! Do they have to pee or something?
"I heard you! Hold your horses! Jeez."
I opened the door and my eyes popped out and my jaw met the floor. What the fishery fish!?
"Oh hello there neighbor." People who have guessed who is there, congratulations! It was none other than the bafoon, Asher douche the third Collins himself. What is he doing here? Wait, did he just call me his neighbor?
"Oh for the love of fishery fish fingers!"
