"I do so like Green Eggs and Ham! Thank you, Thank you, Sam I Am." I finished up one of the most classic children's books to Royalty as she listened meticulously.
"I want green eggs and ham!" She jumped enthusiastically as I closed the book and picked up Goldilocks and the Three Bears. "Okay, we're gonna make green eggs and ham but daddy can't get any because there's no boys allowed."
"You can't get any either." Royalty lowered her voice as if she was ashamed of something.
"Why can't I get any when I'm the one making it?"
"Because you already fat." She shrugged carelessly and poked my stomach with her finger.
Children are fucking ruthless.
"I'm only fat because I'm carrying your big headed brothers or sisters." I nudged her head lightly, but hard enough for her to tip over. As I opened the next book to start reading, my phone started ringing, signaling an incoming facetime call from India. I answered it and waited for it to connect. "Hey mommy!" She enthused.
"Hey love. What you up to?"
"Waiting for my dad to get out this store, we came for gas and his big swole ass in there buying every Little Debbie cake that exists. How's Cali Life? I miss you so much." She pouted her bottom lip and I sucked my teeth. "It's only been like a month and a half, brat."
"A month and a half is a long time when I'm used to seeing you almost every day. Where's Baby Daddy and my favorite niece?"
"Chris is at the studio, RoRo's right here. She just told me I couldn't eat green eggs and ham because I'm too fat."
India bursted out in laughter, calming down when she realized I didn't find anything funny. "Damn, my fault."
"Fuck you. You better talk to her before I do 'cause I'ma hurt her feelings." I quoted Erica from Love and Hip Hop and India laughed even louder. "Put my boo in the camera."
I handed the phone to Royalty and India instantly began to coo. "Hi beautiful!"
"Hi Auntie Indy!" Ro jumped up and down, smiling widely.
"I miss you so much, mamas. I'm gonna come out there to see you reaaaal soon, okay?"
"Okay! Can we watch Frozen?"
"We watch Frozen every time we're together." India complained. "But since I miss you so much we can watch it again. Put Riley back on the phone."
Before Ro gave me back my phone, India stopped her. "Wait! Do a funny face." Royalty stuck her tongue out and India did the same.
