Chris.
One week later.

In an attempt to get a few more hours of sleep in before I had to go back up to the hospital with Ry, I was waken up by my phone ringing. I picked it up off the dresser and studied the caller I.D.

"Baby Mama🤰🏾❤️💍"

I slid my finger to answer and waited for it to connect.

"What's up baby." I greeted once her big ass head popped up on my screen.

"Did I wake you?"

"Lil bit but you good. Everything okay?"

"Yea. I know we agreed to you coming at twelve but I'm really bored and lonely and I miss you." She told me sweetly, poking her bottom lip out.

"The twins ain't keeping you company?" I joked. She sucked her teeth. "Not enough. Only skills they mastered so far are eating, sleeping, crying, and shitting."

I laughed as she looked over and mean mugged them playfully. "Aight I'm finna be on my way."

"Can you bring me something to eat too?"

"They asses ain't feeding my baby up there?" I asked.

"I mean they are, it's just not good. These stupid ass stitches in my stomach are making it hard for me to even swallow what they give me."

"Damn, it's never hard for you to swallow what I give you."

Riley sucked her teeth. "Shut up. My children are in the room." She batted her eyes in the direction of the little ones.

"You couldn't wait to say that, huh?"

"Absolutely not." She smiled.

I snickered at her reaction. "I can tell. Ya ass been saying my children since they brought them back in the room with you, like they ain't mine too."

"'Cause they ain't." She said with a straight face... a lil TOO straight.

"And I'll kill the nigga who is the baby daddy." I told her deadass. I know my baby ain't and will never cheat on me I just had to let her know what was gon go down God forbid Noah and Nayeli weren't mine. "But I'm finna brush my teeth and put some clothes on, I'a be there in a lil bit, aight?"

"Okay. See you soon."

"Aight, I love you."

"I love you too babe."

I hung up the phone and climbed out of the bed. Our original arrangement was for me to stay at the hospital with them until all three of them were able to be discharged but they did a nigga wrong by placing Ry in a room with no futon. I slept on the couch the night Noah and Nayeli were born and the night before last, but when you nineteen with sixty year old back pain and a long ass body a five foot couch that don't even pull out ain't gon cut it for long. Riley completely understood my reasoning as to why I didn't wanna sleep on the couch so we agreed to me being with her and the babies all day and leaving at night.

After I finished up in the bathroom and put clothes on I grabbed my keys and left out the apartment. Once the twelve floor elevator trip was over I walked to the front desk and met up with Ada, the weekend receptionist.

"Good morning, Ada." I greeted while I signed myself out.

"Peace, King. How you feeling?"

"Can't complain. 'Bout to go up to the hospital with Riley and the little ones."

"Ugh I can't wait to see them in person! When are y'all gonna announce the birth?"

Neither me nor Riley has told any of our friends and family nor social media about Noah and Nayeli being born yet because it won't do shit but cause a bunch of commotion in our lives and we'd rather focus on keeping our babies healthy rather than throwing cameras in their face and flying people out to see them with the state they're in at the moment. The only people who know so far is of course the doctors, Ada because I slipped up and told her and Nurse Clark.
