once when i was running,
from all that haunted me;
to the dark i was succumbing-
to what hurt unbearably.

searching for the one thing,
that would set my sad soul free.

in time i stumbled upon it,
an inner calm and peace;
and now i am beginning,
to see and to believe,
in who i am becoming-
and all ive yet to be.

i am new here,
to this self love.
to this whole love.
to this not changing for anyone,
not apologizing to anyone,
sort of kind and pure love.
and i am never leaving.

do not choose the lesser life.
do you hear me?
do you hear me?
choose the life that is yours.
the life that is seducing your lungs.
that is dripping down your chin.

i don't want to tug at my fat anymore,
like im aiming to rip it clean off my body.
it is not a menace,
it clings to my body,
to protect me,
when my hands roam destructively.
it deserves love.
for doing what i, at times, cannot.

perhaps, we should
love ourselves so fiercely,
that when others see us
they know exactly
how it should be done.
