Elle

Its now the first weekend in New Jersey for me. I was getting hype cause me and Alissa made plans to go shopping.

"Okay, so where do you want to go first?" Alissa asks as we walk around the mall.

"Forever 21." I say quickly and Alissa smiles. "Good choice."

We walk into Forever 21 and start walking around. "Okay, so there's an epic party next Friday at Aaron's house. We can get you an outfit here." Alissa claps her hands together.

I nod in agreement and follow Alissa. She stops and backs up and picks up a dress from a rack.

"This. Is. It." She squeals and holds it up for me to see. I admire the dress that Alissa held in front of me.

"I don't like the color." I say simply and look for a different color, but the same dress.

I find a black one and hold it up to Alissa. She nods her head and says, "You know what this means? We can go matching, bff goals."

I laugh and look at the price. "40 bucks. Not that bad." I nod in satisfaction. I buy both dresses after arguing with Alissa and we walk out of the store.

"We should get out hair done." Alissa says after we finish eating some subway. "This is how I can make it up to you."

"Okay. Cause I'm already getting bored of my hair color." I laugh and flip my hair over my shoulder.

The hair stylist turns the chair to Alissa and she stands up in awe. "Oh. My. God." She runs up to me. "You look like a completely different person, Elle."

I run my hand through my hair and smile. "I love it." Alissa pays for the appointment and we walk out of the store and the mall.

"Alright. You can't go to school at all next week. Go back to New York or something. Your hair has to wait for Friday." Alissa says as she pulls into my driveway.

I nod and admire my hair in the window. It was now a bright pink color and I loved it.

I gasp and turn to face Alissa in a hurry. "You should come with me." She smiles and agrees. We grab our bags from the trunk and walk inside my house.

We walk up to my room and shut the door behind us. We throw our bags on the bed along with ourselves. "That was the most fun I've had in a while. Thanks Alissa."

"No problem. I told you we would be great friends." We sit up and Alissa folds her legs and grabs both my hands.

"So now for some real talk, whats up with you and Grayson?" I laugh and reply saying we aren't anything but friends.

"Sure." She says. "I'm being serious. I have a boyfriend." I say throwing my hands up in defense.

"Oh. Okay. I believe you." She laughs and we turn on some music. It feels like I've known Alissa forever. Only a week in New Jersey and I already have clicked with a lot of people.

"Okay. Bye mom. See you Thursday night." I kiss my mom's cheek and walk out the door. I see Alissa's dad in the car outside.

I get in and see Alissa with a suitcase by her feet. "You ready for a lit week in New York?" I smirk at her.

"Of course." She says excitedly. We drive off to the airport.

"2 teenage girls heading off to New York to have a little fun, by themselves." Alissa's dad smiles once we reach the airport.

Alissa smiles giddily and hugs her dad while saying goodbye. I wish I could be like that with my dad.

Speaking of dad, he wad supposed to meet us at the airport in New York. We were going to be staying with him since we couldn't afford a hotel.

And I didn't want to make Alissa feel uncomfortable by staying with Jacob. We go through security and all that fun stuff and get on the plane.

"See you in New York." I wink at Alissa and go to my seat.

Alissa

"At least you didn't get stuck with a stinky fat guy." I retort. "And who snores." I add. I send Elle a disgusted look.

She giggles and looks up and her smile drops instantly. "What?" I ask and turn to look at what she was looking at. There were too many things she could've been looking at.

She walks slowly towards some guy. The guy spots Elle and he walks up to her. I follow behind Elle.

"Hello dad." She says quietly and they awkwardly hug. I cringe and wave at him. "Hi, you must be Alissa." He shakes my hand. I nod, "Yup. Thats me."

"Well, um, lets go. Your sister has been eager to see you Elle." Her dad says and we walk out of the airport. We get into a shiny black corvette and speed off towards the city.

We arrive at an apartment. We walk in and take the elevator to the 4th floor. "So you got a new place?" Elle asks as her dad opens the door to the apartment.

"Yeah. I couldn't afford the house after you guys left so we moved here." He sighs and sets his keys on the kitchen table. "Your room is by Dakota's room. Right down that hall."

Elle walks down the hall and opens the door to our room. It had 2 beds already set up. I set my suitcase on one of the beds and follow Elle around.

Elle

I knock on the door right across from me and Alissa's bedroom. I hear whispering from inside and knock again.

"Who is it?" I hear Dakota sing from the other side of the door. "Your favorite person." I reply. I hear movement and then the door swings open to reveal my little sister.

"Elle!" She yells and tackles me to the floor. "Dakota!" I yell back and start tickling her. She laughs and falls off me. I stand up and see Alissa laughing.

"Dakota, this is Alissa, my best friend from New Jersey." I say helping Dakota up. She smiles and hugs Alissa.

"Alright. So tell me, any cute boys you've met yet?" I ask as we go to sit on Dakota's bed. "Hey, chill. I'm only 13, Elle."

"So? I started dating Jacob when I was 14, almost 15." "Yeah, I know. But dad says I'm not allowed to date till I'm 16." She frowns.

I pull her into a hug. "You don't always have to listen to dad. Yeah, he is the boss, but don't let him control your love life."

"But look where that got you." Dakota says and I look over at Alissa. She gives me a confused look. I shoot Dakota a 'don't you even' look but she obviously ignores it.

"Are you still taking those pills?" She asks looking at me then Alissa. Alissa wasn't supposed to find out like this.
