Comfort.

* I haven't posted for this book in a while, so here's this thing. *

Dally:
-has absolutely no idea what he's doing.
-probably awkward pats on the back.
-bites his lip, runs a hand through his hair, puffs on a cancer stick, avoids eye contact, etc.
-"shoot, doll, it'll be okay."
-lets you cry it out.
-lays down when it gets late, but gestures for you to join him.
-he's not big on cuddling, though he doesn't hesitate to wrap his arm around you and pull you closer.

Two-Bit:
-tries to crack jokes to make you laugh.
-when it doesn't work, he genuinely feels upset.
-offers you some of his beer.
-will probably put on Mickey Mouse if it's on television.
-lowkey stays up with you all night/until you feel better.
-makes funny faces until you smile.
-kisses your nose at random times.

Darry:
-stares at you for a while because it's been so long since he's had to comfort someone.
-finally wraps you in a big hug.
-probably puts blankets in the dryer just so they'll be rlly warm and cuddly.
-offers to make you hot chocolate, no matter what time it is.
-puts extra marshmallows in it.
-tries real hard to hear you out.
-has a tough look, but lowkey seeing you hurt makes his chest ache so he tries everything in his power to cheer you up.

Sodapop:
-forces a few smiles in hopes of getting one in return.
-tears up if/when he sees you cry.
-"come on, baby, don't cry."
-listens quietly.
-nods every few minutes to tell you he's still listening.
-offers advice if he has it.
-tries to come up with helpful solutions.
-probably does that gay thing where he kisses your cheeks free of tears.
-pulls you into his lap and just wraps his arms around you like a blanket.

Ponyboy:
-feels rlly helpless.
-offers to read you a book.
-listens to what you have to say.
-lets you rant/get everything out before he actually speaks.
-hugs you tight and doesn't let go until he's sure you feel a little better.
-there to give as many cuddles as you need & will also remind you of how much he loves and cares for you.
-random kisses here and there.
-doesn't always know what to say so he probably tries to tune into his 'inner Soda'.

Johnny:
-holds your hand tightly.
-tries hard to listen well.
-pretty quiet, but still listening.
-trails his thumb over your hand, tracing light shapes as you talk.
-offers you his jacket.
-takes you on a walk.
-reminds you of how important and great you are in his eyes.
-continuously asks if you're okay.
-kisses your head and occasionally combs his hands through your hair.
-makes soft "shhh" sounds to calm you.
-reminds you to b r e a t h e .
-"if you keep crying, it's gonna make me cry."

Tim:
-like Dally, he doesn't know what he's doing and feels awkward af.
-"uh... well, I'm sure it'll work out."
-lets you rant as much as you need but may or may not zone out a few times.
-wraps an arm around you securely.
-"golly, you sure are an emotional little broad, aren't 'ya?"
-willing to distract you with sex tbh.
-literally, he has n o clue what to do.
-asks if you want a cigarette.
-warily glancing at you every few seconds.

Curly:
-tries to do that thing where he gently caresses your face, but probably ends up poking you in the eye.
-asks if you're okay.
-he's just ???
-"wanta go bust into the liquor store?"
-sometimes looks into the distance as if there's an invisible camera, and his face is just kind of like, "oH god whAt?"
-is not prepared when you start confiding in him and actually telling him what's wrong.
-sighs and kinda scratches the back of his neck because he doesn't know what to say back.

Steve:
-hugs you as soon as he sees you.
-honestly confused as to just how to help, but doesn't feel overly awkward.
-he's honored you came to him.
-asks if you'd feel better with a piece of chocolate cake.
-this boy is literally willing to sacrifice his prIDE and jOY for you.
-reminds you that he loves you, a lot.
-listens but sometimes interrupts with stuff like: "hell no", "they did wHAT?", "if I see their face again...", "blast it!"
-rubs your shoulder or absentmindedly plays with your hair as you speak.
