Chapter 1

It's 3 a.m. I was awoken by a strange sound. I couldn't hear it clearly as I fell asleep with my earphones on. I took it off and rub my eyes. It's dark. The only light there is the light from the television. I sat down straight and realized I'm on the couch. I fell asleep in the living room. I got up and walked out the living room. As I passed the stairs, that's when I heard it. Movements. Noises coming from upstairs. It's strange. Really strange. It made me walked up the stairs. As soon as I got up there, I heard the noises, coming from the bedroom and it is the only room where the door wasn't shut properly. I approached it slowly, and opened the door. That's when I saw the most haunting thing that I could possibly imagine. A man, with a burlap mask, with two dark holes as the eyes and stitches resembling a frown. Blood was all over his body, and that is when I realized he is there, raping a woman. A dead woman. Her mouth was cut to have a smile and I could see wounds all around her body as if she was stab multiple times. I was in shock. And that is when the masked man saw me. He grab his bloody sickle, and walk towards me. I couldn't move after witnessing that. He suddenly jumps towards me and devours my face. And that is when I woke up. I've been having dreams of this man for so long. I believe he is responsible for the deaths of many young man and woman. He is known for leaving his victims with a smile on their face made up by slicing their cheeks. He is a necrophilia. Rapes his dead victims and leave them on the bed. I have so many people coming to see me, asking if I can help them investigate as I had never failed a case. However, this might be the first. It just doesn't make sense. His victims are random, there are no connection between them. He has murdered a total of 4 people and none of them have anything in common. I'm stuck, I know its not well to wish over someone's death but without another body found, I can't really crack this case. I am stuck, could this be the downfall of my career as a private investigator? Trapped, I am indeed trapped in my mind with all the possibilities. Is he doing this by random? Is he out for vengeance? What is going on? Why is he giving me clues that I can't understand? I am indeed lost. However, I will not give up until I find him. I'll keep trying. I believe it's my duty now to crack the case, to bring justice to the people. I, Oliver Midnight, a famous private detective will bring an end to the well-known and feared murderer that calls himself "Acid". 

It all started with the first victim, Ms. Sally Friend. She was found by her sister who came by the morning after she was murdered to take her out for breakfast. Sally was found on her bed, dead with wounds all over the body and her cheeks sliced to make a smile. He doesn't leave a single trace in the house as if he has been doing this for ages. However, he left a note written in blood on the bedroom wall saying "I challenge you -Acid". The police thought that he was challenging them. That is until they found the second victim, a widow that goes by the name Martha Alice Rain. She was found dead with the same wounds as Sally. The note that was left on her wall was "Oh Mr. Midnight, where are you?". That is when the police realize this case is a challenge for me. They contacted me straight away and soon after that the victim's family came to my office seeking for my help. Little did I know this will be the case of my life.
