Back at the Academy they were thought various of things; the etiquettes, the rules, the values and the principles. It is to guide them through their journey in and out of the town. After graduation they were submmitted into different headquarters. Those headquarters were more on a hierarchy. Top-notchers were treated well, with laid-back jobs but more insentives. On the other hand, the mediocre reapers were mandated to do more labour work like fetch souls in the human realm.
Same goes with life, it is a hierarchy. Some people are born privileged. Things are served straight in front of them. They only just have to stuff it inside their mouth, while for some, they can't. To live, they must work hard. Extra harder, actually because there's nothing as free meal for them. However, no matter how unfair life may seem. There's a certain point that it is not. There's a common ground where everything is fair for all. No matter how people start differently, in the end everyone dies and that's their common ground... death.
"Can I read?"
Napatalon si Lyca dahil sa bigla. Mabilis niyang sinarado ang notebook at tinignan si Judge na nakahilig sa kaniya. Agad siyang umiling.
"How about scan?"
She shook her head. It made a mess in her hair when the harsh outdoor breeze in the light house blew her hair. Lyca chuckled and fixed it.
"You can't Judge."
"Why?"
Lyca cleared her throat. "Because it's private?".
"We're close right? Aren't we close enough to read your note? Come on! You read my clear book. It's my song drafts. It's pretty personal you know." Judge was definitely guilt tripping her. He even exaggerated a pout!
"J-judge..."
"Fine!" Judge gave up. "Ano bang sinusulat mo diyan? At ayaw mong ipakita sa iba."
Lyca shrugged. "Random stuff."
"Like?" Judge whispered under his breath.
"Poems, poems, poems," she chuckled. "Poems and poems. Yeah, a lot of poems."
Lyca was caught off gaurd when Judge lifted his hand. It dropped on her forhead, more on the stubborn hair strands that hovered her face. Judge's callous finger tips brought it on her ears.
"T-thank you," she stammered. That was the time when she realised, she wasn't breathing. She was holding it in. Nagawa lang niyang huminga ulit nang muling magsalita si Judge.
"Speaking of poem, I did finish the song... the poem you wrote. Do you remember that?"
She nodded cheerfully.
"Do you wanna hear it?"
They didn't notice the time. It ran pretty quickly. Before they knew it, Judge finished the song and they were trailing their way back to the resort. It was a couple of walk from the lighthouse.
