Project O2-SOS was targeted in achieving the next evolution in humans. A life without diseases, no ageing, a life in which consuming air, water or food can be avoided. This was an unattainable dream until we came across the new element KZ-12 commonly known as kryptonite. Dr Zeus and Rob found out the effects of KZ-12 on living tissue, it upgraded the living tissue to an extraordinary level and survived for a long period of time in vacuum. Thereby leading to the creation of O2-SOS. First three versions of the complex was unstable and vaporised in contact with air but the fourth was a success which led to the breakthrough of a century.

Rob took his recorder and started his first entry. “March 17, 2025. Five minutes past twelve , subject 75 has been injected with O2-SOS. There are no significant changes to the subject. Vital status seems normal but blood pressure is slowly elevated. Maybe it's just nervous. 24 hour observation might tell us some kind of good news. At least I hope so.”

“April 1,2025. Subject seems to be stable without food or water. Vital status intact. No behavioral changes. The constant staring can be ignored. Haha. Guys do you know how to delete the last part I said. Shit this thing is still o…”

“April 17,2025. No changes can be seen on the subject body. Moving on to the next phase. Subject is moved to an air tight container and minimizing the oxygen supply to 1%. “

May 20th, the board of directors walked into the office. Rob greeted everyone and explained the current subject evaluation. CEO personally congratulated Rob for achieving the desired target. Rob with a grin, looked at the subject who stared back at him. He explained to the CEO from the time the serum has been injected, subject 75 seemed to have increased its brain activity but just stares at him without any kind of emotions or aggressive behaviour. Rob found it odd the whole time and it worried him.

May 21, multiple calls from the lab. Dr Zeus lost his patience and in an attempt to catch his breath spoke to Rob on phone : “subject 75 has gone through some physical changes. It appears O2-S0S has some different kind of effect other than what we imagined. There is no aggressive behavior but it seems to be staring at me motionless. You should come down here quick.”

Robs expression when he saw subject 75 made Zeus realise it's not just him. Everyone was stunned to see the rat shed its skin and stand straight staring at the doctors as if it knew them. Skin colour has drastically changed to something more darker but at the same time skin texture became glossy. Full body proportions have changed overnight into something humanoid with a tail. Rob always had a very high curiosity and courage when it came to animals and he wanted to see how it would react to his touch. He put his hands through the gloves in-order to touch it but it moved back few steps trying to avoid him which only increased the curiosity in Rob.

Rob spoke softly : “Let's move on to the next phase. Move subject 75 to container C and let him interact with his species. “

May 25. Subject 75 seemed to act normal with other rats and shed hope to Rob who couldn't stop smiling.

Rob knew human trials were the next big step but getting the boards approval would take too long. Rob couldn't control his curiosity to know how the complex reacted on humans. He started with simple tests on his own blood but confidentiality could get risked in his lab, so he conducted the experiment in his house itself. Only main procedures which needed high end tech was done in the lab and all the results he carried with uttermost secrecy at his house. The complex seemed to have a great effect on his blood. His blood cells could survive even without any protein in direct sunlight for two days straight.

June 15. He started collecting tissue samples from his inner wall of mouth and they too seemed to show excellent results.

Rob wanted to jump around with joy and he wanted to share it with his colleagues but he hesitated. For a minute, his conscience seemed to have changed entirely to something more selfish and cunning. What if they took the credit for HIS success, he thought to himself and justified his actions to the betterment of the world. He wanted all the glory to himself. His curiosity has been overthrown by complete insanity. what if he could be the first human to survive without air, water or food. What if he could be the first human to have evolved into something much greater. Thoughts seemed to wander around his vast brain. He woke up in his bed feeling tired. He could barely sit up and tried to recollect the events from the other day. His mind was a blank slate. He couldnt even remember the date. He felt uneasy and checked his phone.

July 10,2025 9:00 am. He recalled his talk with the CEO about his breakthrough. After that everything seemed to be pitch dark. “What happened to me”. He slowly got up, made him way to the toilet and looked in the mirror. He looked a little pale but other than that everything looked normal. His headache seemed much worse even after taking tablets. He walked into the HBC headquarters and everyone greeted him like usual. He was still trying hard to recollect any memory. When he walked into his lab, everything seemed different. There were some new faces, CEO seemed to be smiling at him with few other board members talking about the big day. He was trying to find out what the big day was when he came across the timer on the wall : 5 days 2 hrs 27 mins 10 sec counting down. What could happen in the next five days, he thought to himself as he looked around. Dr Zeus came to Rob and gave him daily report log and asked Rob to sign. He went through the log and he came across a particular phrase which blew his mind. Human experiment. He kept reading and the next thing he saw didn't just made him freeze but the fear in his eyes was evident.
