The trio walked through the halls of the house, their footsteps echoing in the silence. Sophy figured everyone was out doing things seeing as how quiet it was. They were in the living quarters, usually the loudest part outside the training grounds.
Aki's face was grim. She tried to get the answer out of him, scanning his mind for an answer, but he blocked her out. The only thing he said in his mind was "It's better if you just see for yourself."
Percy took her hand. His grip warm and comforting, putting her at ease. She looked at him. His auburn eyes glowed with energy and strength. It didn't match the worried look he wore. Sophy always found it cute when he got worried, but this time she just grew more afraid.
"Don't worry Percy; it'll be..." Sophy doubled over in pain and began to cough violently. She squeezed Percy's hand.
"Sophy!" He yelled. Percy tried to hold her up, and Aki joined in as well. She found it sweet. Her fit subsided, and she thought everything was fine. It was always fine. They were just coughs and had been for 17 years.
Sophy looked at the two, but something was wrong. Both faces were pale and staring at a spot on the wall. The light beige walls had been stained in one place. A spot of a bright red liquid, dripping onto the floor.
Sophy grew lightheaded.
"S...Sophy." Aki's voice was panicked and shaky. "We need to get you to Red now! Percy, get to the kitchen as fast as you can!"
"But..."
"GO!" Aki yelled. Percy stood in shock for a second, before kissing Sophy's forehead and darting down the hall.
Aki picked her up, much to her dismay. "We're taking a shortcut." He creates a shadow on the wall. "Let's go, sis," Aki said, jumping into the shadow.
