"Mom, what are you doing here?" Sophy asked confused.
Rhaynee looked at Red nervously, then back to Sophy. "I...i've come to bring you home."
"What!?" Everyone exclaimed in unison. All except for Red, though he looked pained to hear those words.
"Mom, why?" Sophy asked.
"There...is a family issue, and youre needed back home. Permanently."
"Why permanently!?" Percy looked less pale but panicked.
"Yeah," Aki chimed in, "With all do respect, mom, she has a family here. She knows us and we know her better than they do. Even more than you."
Red shot Aki a look. His voice faltered and tears welled in Aki's eyes.
"Yes, Aki you're right. I may not know my daughter as well as you all. I know ive been away, leaving her in this dimension with you, and with that came less development of our relationship, but i have watched over her. I've watched her grow, and i wouldn't be here if i had any other choice. We need her home, as soon as possible."
"I don't like this." Persephone stared at the cup of tea in fron of her. The liquid danced around the cup, part of it boiling while the other was frozen. "No one finds this, off. Sorry Rhaynee, but when you last visited you saw how happy Sophy was and how much she had grown. You left saying she could stay, and that you wouldnt be back. Yet, here you are."
Rhaynee's face beaded with sweat. "Yes, thats true, but my dear things change. I never could've predicted the chaos that has ensued."
Rhay spoke up, "I mean, seeing how you both ended up here 19 years ago because of family issues, i feel you probably could see it coming." She looked at Rhaynee. "I mean, we may be from two different dimensions, but we arent blind."
Rhaynee almost sunk in her seat. "Maybe, but i have been missing from that dimension for years. The chaos is worse than either of us could've seen."
Sophy shifted in her seat. "And what chaos is that mother?" Sophy was getting irritated. "Why does this chaos require me permanently?"
Rhaynee started to sink in her chair under Sophy's gaze. She had to get the answer out of her mother, but she couldnt read her mind, it was blocked.
Red spoke in her defense. "Sophy, your mother seems to be struggling with this. It must be urgent, but also very painful if shes acting the way she is."
"What are you saying Red?" Rhay asked. "Are you saying she should go?"
"No, of course not. You know as well as i do moonchild i dont want her to leave. Im just saying maybe we should pick this conversation up on a later date." He looked at Rhaynee. "Lets say Sophy goes, when would you absolutely have to leave?"
"Not for a few more days, five at the most. Why?"
Red's face lightened a little, though still sad. "Well then, lets take a trip. Back to our beginnings. We can make a decision in a few days."
"Back to our beginnings? You mean back to the cabin?" Valerie asked. She had stayed so silent through the exchange, Sophy forgot she was there. That was always her thing though. Very quiet, taking all the information in.
"Yeah, why?" Red looked confused.
Valerie and Rhay giggled and the kids cracked a smile. Sophy liked the lightened mood. Even her mom made a sarcastic sigh.
"Babe, you couldve just said that." Valerie said laughing. "Youre forty-nine years old, you dont have to act like a cryptic old mentor. This is real life, not a fairy tale."
Red blushed. "Oh, yeah." It was funny to Sophy to see her leaders, mentor, basically father figure, get all flustered. It was good to see. He held himself to a high standard he couldnt always meet. He had trouble being human, ever since Aki went to hell, he never forgave himself.
Valerie kissed his cheek. "You're so cute." She whispered. Valerie turned to the kids. "Okay kids, go packand get ready to leave."
Percy blushed. "Mom, we're all older than 18, not kids."
Persephone sarcastically glared at her brother. "Percival, it's mom. Of course we're still kids."
"Right...sorry mom."
"Dont be honey, now run along."
Sophytook Percy's hand as the 4 of them walked out.
"Aki!" Red called out. "Stay, i need to speak with you."
Sophygave Aki a worried look. He glanced at her with a reassuring smile. "Dont worry, it's nothing too bad. I dont get in trouble with him remember. Go on ahead." He looked at Percy. "Take care of her."
Percy stared at him speechless, the stumbled into a salute, making Sophy smile. She thought it was the cutest thing.
"I will." He said.
"Thank you. See Y'all soon." He smiled softly. He kissed Persephone, whispered and I love you, as he walked back twoards the table, hitting his wings on the way into the kitchen.
Persephone smiled, "Okay, how about some Mario Kart with everyone after we pack?"
Sophy looked at Percy and smiled. "I'd love that. Especially after this. Race you Monacos" Sophy said as she pushed Percy and ran down the hall.
