All Sophy felt, was cold. All she heard were whispers. All she saw, was darkness, well her eyes were closed, but she'd still see nothing anyways. Aki ran and ran for what felt to Sophy like ages. Every once and a while he would tell her it was going to be okay. She wanted to look at him, tell him she was okay, but she couldn't. She knew the shadow dimension used a persons fear against them. She always wondered how Aki dealt with this everytime he shadow jumped.
She tried to mutter an 'I'm fine,' but she couldn't make her mouth move.
"Red will know what to do," Aki whispered. She could sense the panic in his voice.
Sophy was hit with a wave of warm air and light as they melted from the shadows into the kitchen.
Aki put her down gently, helping Sophy stand as she wobbled on her feet. Cautiously, she opened her eyes and looked around the sleek gray room. Valerie was making tea, her blood red hair tied in a ponytail. He movements were graceful, and she glowed.
Around the island, bar sat three familiar faces. At the head of the bar sat Red. His dark brown hair was charred and messy like Aki's. Sophy grew worried. Red's hair only got that way when it burst into small flames when he got stressed. He had a brooding gaze as he stared at the table. It was normal for him to space out from time to time, but his gaze was sad this time. His thoughts were too jumbled for Sophy to make out, but it got his attention. He noticed her and gave a reassuring grin.
Next to him sat Persephone. Her hair was braided in a ponytail, the tips slightly burnt. Her cheeks were flustered, and he clothes damaged like Aki's. Her glasses were cracked somewhat, but she didn't seem to mind. She looked at Sophy and smiled with a tiny wave. Sophy smiled back and waved.
Then Sophy noticed who sat opposite of Red. Her heart sank. Sitting at the other end of the table opposite of Red, was Rhaynee, but not the one she'd come to know. This Rhaynee was scarred, and her hands damaged as if burnt with acid. Her clothes were darker than usual and more assassin in design. A giant scythe was leaned against the wall behind her. Sophy couldn't believe it; she hadn't seen her mother since she was 9. She was pulled into a dimension portal; there was no way she could be here now. It had to be the effects of the shadow dimension.
"Sophy!" Percy's voice echoed from the hall. He ran and attacked her with a hug. Percy leaned back and kissed her forehead, making her blush.
Rhaynee did one of those ahem coughs. Sophy hated those. Percy looked at Rhaynee, and he went pale, stepping away from Sophy. Only slightly though.
Sophy found it both cute how Percy reacted, seeing him flustered was always cute, but odd as to why Rhaynee would do that. Rhaynee fully supported their relationship, so Percy's reaction didn't make sense.
"Okay, I'm back!" Yelled a familiar voice. Rhay, this dimensions Rhaynee, walked into the room. "Red, I'm never eating mysterious goodies from other dimensions you give me ever again." She said with a smile.
Red chuckled. "Hey, those are a delicacy in Atlantis. Grey made them herself."
"Oh well, you can give the queen my sincerest apologies for not liking them." She sat down across from Persephone and looked at Sophy. "Good to see you kids. Come sit." She patted the seat next to her.
Sophys stomach turned. She looked at Rhaynee, who gave a soft motherly grin. "Mom?" Sophy asks in disbelief.
"Hello, Sophy." Her mother said. "We need to talk."
Okay so real quick...some background cause names might get confusing. Sophy is originally from an alternate dimension. Her mother is Rhaynee Marlow. The current dimension you're reading in also has a Rhaynee. The current dimension is the main series dimension, with Red, Valerie a Rhayne, etc. All that from my other works and in the future of the Chronicles books. From this point forward Rhaynee will refer to the Rhaynee from the other dimension per request of the real-life Rhaynee. Rhay will refer to the main series Rhaynee. I hope it isn't too confusing for you. Thanks! Enjoy! Red
