Silence. Sophy grew weak, her stomach churned. She felt like she was going to puke. The world seemed to spin. She fell back onto the couch.
Percy took her hand. "What do you mean she's dying?" He asked. She could hear so many emotions in his voice.
"Sophy was born in a different dimension, with different properties. A different environment. Her body couldn't cope with our dimension." Red spoke up. Tears were on his cheeks. His voice was calm but raspy.
"Dad, you knew?" Persephone asked confused.
Red shook his head. "No, I couldn't sense anything wrong. I figured the coughing was hereditary, and doctors have never been able to help us. I thought nothing of it for a while. When Rhaynee arrived, I found out. Then Aki mentioned her coughing blood, and it was more serious than I thought."
Rhaynee was silent; tears clung to her cheeks.
Sophy couldn't comprehend what was going on. She had so many questions.
"How did you know, mom?" Aki asked.
She was silent for a while. When she did speak, it was soft and distant. "I could feel her life force slipping away. Our bond was deteriorating."
"What's the cure?" Rhay asked. "There is always a cure."
" Not for this. It's affecting not only her body but her soul."
Red's face went pale. Tears welled in his eyes. Aki tensed up as well. They shared an anxious glance. They knew all too well how soul damage felt.
Sophy slowly got up. She still felt dizzy, but she could stand. "Sophy, sweetie, you might want to sit down, you're very pale," Valerie said with concern.
"No...I can stand." Sophy let go of Percy's hand. "How long do I have, before I'm critical?"
"Two days, it'd be best if we left tonight." Rhaynee at her coffee.
Sophy nodded. She couldn't properly think. She made her way to the door. She paused as she grabbed the knob. "I guess this is it. Goodbye, everyone." Sophy turned the knob and walked out the door.
