Thursday: Pre-Friday. High school students wait in anticipation for the week to finish, without realising that they are a day closer to hell-hole no.2, in other words, 'college'.

+++

The cafeteria of Arden High school looked something equivalent to a rotten banana infested with flees. The place was always crawling with nervous teenagers, balancing their lunch-trays to their allocated eating places. Yes, 'allocated'...by no one other than 'the popular kids'.

The utmost edges of the cafeteria were occupied by the 'nobodies' (with an extra 'o' for the emphasis on 'no'). For example, Alan Higgs- the guy who played 'horse' with the extra-nobodies three years younger than him, Gaylord Anderson- the guy whose name was the laughing stock of Arden, and Edna Cowan- the girl who picked her nose and ate it.
There was a thick barrier between the outcasts and the social pyramid. None of them stood a chance there.

Therefore, the lowest social group in Arden High school were the nobodies (without the emphasis on 'o'). These consisted of the school nerds, teacher's pets, the nerdy Asians, drama kids, art kids, emo kids, the highly religious kids, and the anime kids. They were mostly quiet, if not, they chattered inaudibly about the most abominable subjects anyone could ever talk about. It would have made more sense for Jasmine to be eating lunch with them, but Patricia's heavenly reputation brought her up.

Jasmine's group of friends belonged to the 'social kids'. Sure, not as social as the Queens, Kings, and preps, but social enough for them to be recognised as 'colleagues'. A lot of them were SRC reps, the head students of the school, all-rounders...or just really, really likeable kids that denied a position in the top level of the pyramid....like Patricia.

...And in the center of them all were the most feared and admired people in the whole of Arden High school. These kids were the jocks, preps and cheerleaders with overflowing money and looks. Jasmine could tell that the major percentile of teens in that category underwent some type of plastic surgery. There were only a few that were lucky enough to be born that way... A.K.A, Heath Parker, Edward Marcus, Ebony Goldham and Elaine Dora Santiago. Those guys surely stood out.

Jasmine blinked. Once, twice. Apparently it helped with the 'I don't feel anything' expression, and Jasmine certainly needed it at this point of the day. Who WOULD be able to keep a straight face when Mrs Veasley, the lunch lady, was serving big slops of mashed vegetables and weird tasting burger meat? Yuck.

She glanced at her lunch tray, her stomach wildly churning, and her will to eat slowly disappeared like strands of mist. The food looked like cat puke, or goblin shit...might be both.

"Hey! Girl over there!"

Jasmine jumped, tore her eyes away from the food and shuddered at the sight before her. A hand stuck up from the middle table in the cafeteria and a wide smile greeted her- Elaine's smile.
Every pair of eyes were glued to them now, and the lunch hall was so silent that you could hear a pin drop.
