I wrote this book before I understood what an x Reader was. I thought an x Reader meant that the main character was unnamed. Therefore, I thought the writer could make her look or do whatever she/he wanted but the reader gave said character a name. Reason why I point this out is because I have an extreme amount of backlash because I'm 'racist' for making the Reader of lighter skin. Her nationality is Asian, Japanese to be specific JUST like Zoro. It's called a genuine mistake and I'm not racist. Racist means I'm ridiculing those of color, in which I'm not. If youre gonna be upset over something such as this, walk away now or else you'll be blocked.
In the late of night, the moon sat low, illuminating the sky with its dull blue glow. Most were in bed, resting up for the day ahead of them. But one green haired boy, a swordsman, would bash his wooden swords one by one, into looming bamboo and stationary rocks.
Meanwhile one innocent fluffy girl, wearing a tidy kimono. A perfect bow tied around her chest. Hands perched within her sleeves. She sat upon a large rock out by the river. It was her thinking place, her escape from the many beliefs of the villagers. But most of all, it was her front row seat. A perfect view of the swordsman in training. Not once has he acknowledged the perfectly dressed girl, or even glance in her direction.
Till tonight, the two kids locked eyes for the first time.
Recently, this green haired swordsman has been training harder than he ever was. Staying out later at night than the normal. Exerting so much energy that by the end of each training session, he'd drop dead upon the grass.
Tonight was one of those nights.
The child swordsman unhinged his jaw, dropping the sword that was once gripped between his pearly white teeth, into the green grass that was almost as green as his hair. Then fell backwards, breathing harshly in exhaustion. His other two bamboo swords lied limp upon his sweaty palms. Before he tightened up his grip on the sword, raising it to point right at the empty sky.
"This is only the beginning... I am Roronoa Zoro, and I will become the world's greatest swordsman. The heavens will hear my name!" The exhausted boy shouted right out to the heavens themselves. His claim echoed within the atmosphere that soon went silent. But it never left your brain cavity.
The world's greatest swordsman huh?
You sat forword on your rock. Legs dangling off it's front, your sandals made a dull crashing noise upon contact. "The world's greatest you say?" Your quiet voice spoke up just a little louder than the usual.
Zoro turned his head your direction with large eyes, sitting up before getting to his feet. "So she really does talk" he spoke in an astonished whisper.
"What makes you think that you can be the best? There's a lot of tougher people out there" you stood upon your feet. Stepping towards Zoro, arms lost within your sleeves.
"I know I can be the best! It'll take lots of hard work and determination which I already have. Once I perfect the three swords style nobody will walk out on my fights alive" his pure determination and fire filled look to his eyes honestly scared you. Backing up just a step to put space between you both.
"Is that why you carry a sword in your mouth?" Cause how else can a person use three swords?
"Yes, but why do you care?" Zoro crossed his arms giving off a small annoyed scowl.
"Is it wrong for me to be curious?" You took a step away once again. I never expected this boy to be so rude over small questions...
"Just answer my question" Zoro repeated.
"I-I want to be a swordswoman just like you" your face was cherry red in embarrassment. Expecting the worst of words to now come out of his mouth in ridicule.
"Then why don't you?" Zoro eased up with a question full of mixed emotions. Annoyance, interest, and confusion.
"I can't because of that one girl... K... Koo... K-Kuina" After some digging you found her name.
"Why? What does Kuina have to do with this?" Zoro's voice went dark.
"I-it's because of her, her father won't teach me how to become a swordswoman... Sensei said that women have no chance at becoming the best... But he's only doing what his daughter wants... And doesn't want me to beat her" you began to sniffle as your eyes were welling up with tears. Zoro finally eased up as he understood your position completely. As he had this almost same exact talk with his rival, Kuina, just nights before.
"I would say you shouldn't let them get in your way of going after your dream. But if you can't learn how to use a sword, then how can you?" Zoro understood your position even more. Feeling sorry as your dream to become thw best swordswoman now was nearly impossible.
You could almost see the lightbulb glow brightly over Zoro's head, as he hit you in the arm with his bamboo sword. "Ow! What was that for?" You began to cry some more.
"When life gets hard, do you face it head on or run away?" Zoro swung his bamboo swords at you over and over. Each impact made your skin tingle with pain. But your feet kept planted in the soft grass. You weren't going to run away like before, and prove to Zoro that you had the potential to do anything.
After a few more hits from his swords, Zoro backed off. A smirk of satisfaction stretched across his taunting face. "So you take your problems head on huh?" Zoro more directed that as a statement than a question. But you nodded anyways. Zoro held out one of his bamboo swords, the tip wasn't directed at you. Instead, it was held out like he expected you to take it from his hands.
"Well... Take it" Zoro growled in annoyance. Startled, you did take it from his palms. "I'll teach you myself... Um what's your name?"
"(Y/n)! My name is (Y/n). So you're really going to teach me!?" You jumped in place with sparkling eyes.
"No person should have their dream taken away from them. Since we have the same dream, lets chase after our dream together"
