Ruby~ 

I jog down the stairs and smile at mum, she smiles widely. 

"Back to school after a wonderful summer." I groan, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"You'll be fine sweetheart, everything will go great." She winks.

I sigh... I pick up my bag and pause halfway, a picture of us three. Mum, dad.. and me as a baby. I never really thought I'd loose him when I was 5, but that's just what I got ... I didn't live well after that, I kept on crying myself to sleep, thinking, praying that my daddy would open the door and read me another bedtime story.

"Sweetie?" My mother walks into the lounge.

"I miss him mum.. so much." I wipe another tear, and clear my throat.

"I know you do, me too." She sighs and kisses my forehead. "He'd be proud of you." 

"I guess school awaits me." I say.

"You know he's always going to be with us, okay?" 

"How can I think that, when he didn't come home?" I whisper. "It's his anniversary of his death.." I sniff. 

"I never forget how I felt that day... neither will you. We loved him and he loved us. Now come on, I'll give you a ride." She goes to the door.

I turn to the picture and pick it up, giving it a kiss. "Well, Daddy. I have to go to school, hope you're going to fly over me today.. we know you loved to fly." I whisper.

"Come on Ruby!" My mum shouts.

"Coming!" 

I smile at the picture before running out the door.
