 Chapter 3

Noah

Thoughtfully, I strolled through the park, the breeze rustling through my hair, a feeling that I had longed for since the day I died. I thought back to the long strenuous hours that I had spent in the grand library surrounded by paperwork and grinned knowing that it had all paid off. I was finally back from the dead! I had found reports of a lady who constantly conquered death. A lady who when she died, came back to life again with no memory of her previous existence. I fingered the worn out photograph of Billie Andrews in my back pocket. I sighed in content as I headed toward the Chestnut Grove School which I would be attending with Billie during my time here.

My new school loomed before me, its sheer size making me stumble in shock. It was a million times bigger than the small country school that I had attended as a child.

“You seem lost!” came a voice from behind me that was quickly followed by a set of nervous giggles. “Well, I suppose I am.” I said, turning and raking my fingers through my hair nervously.

“Your new?” the girl behind me questioned and I nodded

“Hi! I’m Grace, whose tutor group are you in?”

“Tutor group?” feeling slightly dazed, I repeated.

“Yeah,” Grace continued “you know, first lesson.”

“Oh, I’m with Mrs Garcia for first period.” I remembered thinking back to the time I had spent studying my timetable.

“Cool!” she literally shrieked “you’re in with me and Billie!”

“Billie?” I queried.

“Yeah, Billie Andrews, she’s my bestie you’ll love her!” she dismissed, waving her hand in a casual gesture.

Bewildered, I followed behind and made my way to class.

It turned out that Mrs Garcia was a slight, cheerful English teacher who loved to stick her nose into other people’s business.  As soon as I walked into the classroom she pulled me to the front with brutal force before turning to the class and introducing me. It was easy to pick Billie out from the rest of the class with her faded jeans and cute cardi. Her dark brown hair curled down her back and her face radiated with beauty. She looked different from the photo, prettier. And it was because I was studying her face that my eyes were fixated on her when Mrs Garcia told me where to sit. Luckily I was still with Grace. “Yippee, you’re with me and Billie!” she squealed. I flashed her a half-hearted smile and took my place in the seat opposite Billie. “Hi, you’re Billie right?” I asked even though I knew fully well who she was “Grace told me all about you.” I said rolling my eyes but she just looked a little freaked before shaking it off and smiling. God is she beautiful!
