Chapter 4

Billie

Oh My God! Oh My God! Oh My God! He spoke to me! The hottest guy ever just sat down and spoke to me. OK, OK calm down Billie. I said to myself. Smiling, I said “hi” back and asked him what brought him to Fennborough. Not the most interesting question to ask, I know but at that moment my brain had turned into a sappy, mouldable gloop!

“My mum got this job here so we moved.” He said. Wow even his voice is hot! He gave me a nervous smile. Well…at least I’m not the only one. I looked up and examined his face. His light brown hair was combed forward in choppy, uneven bangs that fell perfectly above the brow.  His skin was tanned and totally flawless while his jaw line was soft and square. But his eyes were his greatest feature. They were an incredible mixture of deep blue and bright green; most amazing of all they were engraved with beautiful golden specks. They both seemed hungry for adventure and yet they were wise beyond their years. We both sat in silence for a while before Grace slumped down next to me and asked for Noah’s timetable. I peeked over her shoulder and wasn’t surprised to find that tutor wasn’t the only lesson we had together. Along with Math, English and French Noah was in my favourite class, Art. Noah leaned over at me and asked “So what is the point in this lesson exactly?”

“Not much,” I giggled “it’s supposed to be a time to ‘share your problems with older students and staff and to give us time to prepare for the lessons ahead so that there is no reason to miss out on learning due to lateness’" I quote "But of course all we really do is take the morning register and chat with friends.” I sighed propping my legs on the table “this is the life!” of course Grace laughed at that but Noah just looked at me like I was crazy. “Well no-ones complaining!” Grace just smiled as the bell went, signalling the end of first period.

I had French for period two and I hated it. I never paid attention but I always got top marks, I mean what’s the point in learning a language that you’re already semi-fluent in anyway. My aunt is French and she has been teaching me since I was six. I really don’t need some crappy underpaid teacher, leaning over my shoulder and telling me how to buy a drink in France. REALLY! But what I was interested in was the new guy. Noah. He sat two seats across from me and looked like he was really struggling. “Hey!” I whispered over to him “need any help?” I smiled helpfully. He looked up in shock but then mumbled “Actually, yeah, I’ve never done French in my life. I‘m kinda stuck. ” He slumped looking defeated.  “Wait, I know I could tutor you!” I exclaimed, completely thrilled with the idea. “I’m free on Wednesday night, you could come to mine.” I looked up at him.

“Sure, why not” he smiled. It was a beautiful smile, one that made me weak at the knees. I grabbed a pen and tore the corner of my page out of the book. Quickly, I jotted down my address and slid it over to him. “Meet me here tomorrow night after school!” I grinned. “It’s a date.” I barely heard him whisper and I swear I nearly fainted.

Noah and Billie have finally met! Yay!
