Chapter 10:
"JADE!!!"
I woke up to a rough, loud voice calling me when I woke up.
I looked at my clock,
4:34 am
Why the heck was I getting woken up now?
Oh wait, I never picked up.
My father was probably drunk.
I took a quiet, slow step off of my bed and headed towards the door, I reached for the lock. Should I lock my door and await till the morning?
Should I go downstairs and see what awaits for me down there?
I don't know.
I decide to walk down the stairs, slowly and quietly, to peek around the corner to where my father could be.
I saw my father in the kitchen, standing there with his hands on his hips, his face red with anger.
What did I even do to make him this mad?
I yelled from the stairs, keeping my distance from him. I'm not dumb enough to make my way to him again after tonight.
"What?" I asked, keeping my eyes focused on his actions.
My father looked around for me, like he was searching for prey.
"Where are you Jade...?" He trailed, as he kept searching.
I leaned my body farther up the stairs.
"What do you need dad?" I asked, showing no fear in my voice.
"I need to talk to you." He started moving his feet towards the stairs, I moved back further away.
"Are you drunk?"
"No.. I'm not drunk tonight."
He lied. I smelt liquor in his breath, not just that, he was drenched in Alcohol stench.
"I think you're lying to me dad." I stated, making sure he didn't have any close grab of me.
He finally turned his switch and fumed.
"Damn it JADE WHERE ARE YOU?" He moved towards the steps and tripped, he was so wasted.
I decided to turn around and go back to bed, I don't see a good resolve in staying down here with him like this.
"Dad go to bed, it's 5 in the morning, oh and take a shower you smell like ass." I demanded, as I walked back up to my room.
I heard my father yell after me but decided to lock my door and made sure my alarm was set and drifted off to sleep.
