“Bea. Wish for something.” Said Cody, panting with scare
But she couldn’t move any of her hands. They were curled up in the flowers. What a damnable situation they were in. she tried to free her hands by pulling as hard as she could, but it was too hard.
“Come on Bea. Try harder.” He emboldened
She could hear her father’s voice saying
You have to be focused and strong. The most important thing is you saving the human race from ending, or you’re all going to die.
Her face changed from an expression of sacredness to determination. She became stronger than she was. She began to pull her hands once again. The flowers curled up on her hands started to become less tight. She continued on pulling with all her strength. She was doing it! The flowers curled off her hands. As soon as her hands were free, she held the necklace tight and wished for the flowers to let go of them. The flowers uncurled but some other flowers began to curl on them. She kept on wishing for them to uncurl. She couldn’t think of any other wish quick enough.
“Come on!” Said Cody before he yanked her heading for a passage way that was on his right. The flowers were chasing them. One tied Bea’s leg and caused her to trip and fall on to the ground. She wished for it to let go of her. But it was no use because they all kept on coming back on to them. Not that she couldn’t wish for something else that would prevent them from coming on to them over and over. But she was too scared to think of anything else.
“Come on Bea!” said Cody before helping her up. They kept on running to the passage. As soon as they got inside it, it closed.
“Oh no, we’re stuck.” She said
“It doesn’t matter. It’s the next step. We have to follow the passage.” He said before showing her the map.
The passage was the only part of the garden that didn’t have flowers or leaves. They walked and ended up being confused. There were two roads in front of them now. One in their right and one in their left.
“Does it show where to turn?” asked Bea
Cody looked at the map he was holding
“No. it just says follow the passage. I think we should keep on going forward.” He said
They weren’t sure if they were going the right way. None of them knew that there was more than one way. This was getting difficult.
“Okay. Are you sure it just says follow the passage?” asked Bea
There were two passages ahead of them again.
“Yah. Let’s just keep on going forward.” He said hoping they didn’t have to turn.
Beatrice couldn’t let go of her necklace. She couldn’t relax after what happened in the garden. She just wanted the nightmare to end. She just wanted to save the human race so that this misery could end. They started to increase their speed by running. They found themselves more confused. The passage they were following had ended.
“I guess we should’ve turned.” Said Bea
They went back and found the two passages. They took the one that was leading to the right. This time, they were moving as fast as their feet could. They had no idea what was going on. Beatrice started to freak out. She was starting to despair again. She doubted they were ever going to find their way out. They saw another passage.
“How many passages are there in this place?” she shouted
“I don’t think we’re in a passage.” Said Cody
“What do you mean?”
“There are a lot of passageways and not all of them are the way out. I think we’re in a maze.”
It made more sense now. But it also made them to lose their hopes even more. How where they ever going to find their way out of this maze?
“Come on” shouted Cody before he pulled her, running to his right. He was trying to make them-selves go faster. They found that the passage had no exit and went back and chose the one to the left. They ran and found two roads.
“Uh!” Bea groaned
Then she held her necklace hoping it would show them the way out. A bright light glowed on their right. They followed it.
“How much time do we have left?” Asked Cody
“Less than two hours” she replied
They had finally got themselves out of the maze. It seemed like forever. Bea really appreciated Cody’s help. He was the one who had given her strength when she was losing hope. He makes her laugh when she’s feeling depressed. Without him, she doubted she would have ever survived. Once they followed the passage way, they walked south until they reached a mountain, where the underground cave was. That was the last step. It was a relieve to both of them that this night mare was about to end. Bea tried not to put her hopes up. She knew that there was still at least one dangerous thing that was coming their way. She glared at her watch and saw there was one and a half hour remaining. She wondered how everyone at home must be feeling as time draws near. She was hoping her mom would call so she could say good-bye to her. She opened her backpack to get out the handheld transceiver to talk to her father.
“Dad?” she said holding the handheld transceiver to her mouth
“Bea. Are you okay?” said Zac
“I am okay Dad, what about you?
“Yes. We are okay. Is Cody with you?” Asked Tom
“Yes.”
“Are you guys fine.” Zac said
“Yeah. We’re fine. We are going to the last step.” Said Cody
“That’s fantastic. You’re doing it.” he congratulated them
They could hear how happy both Zac and Tom were for them. This just gave them more courage.
“Dad, as in Zac, I want to say good-bye to you. I know I’m never going to see you again. I’m going to miss you. I just want you to know that it was nice meeting you and getting to know you.”
“Oh. I’m going to miss you too.” He said. She could almost hear him crying. “Don’t despair”
“We won’t.” She said
“I love you Bea.” Zac said
“I love you too.” She said. She couldn’t help but start crying. That was the last time she was ever going to hear her father say that. She almost wished that she had been holding a recorder just to record those four words. That way, she’ll cherish them for the rest of her life.
They were walking along grass that was no longer surrounded with flowers. It was clear that the passage took them out of the garden. Now, they were heading south facing a hill. They began to climb it.
