After Batman talked to the other four Leaguers and the team for several minutes he walked into the room. Batman sat down, "I know you might not want to answer most of these questions but I need to know everything."
Omen sat up straighter and smirked, "You might not like the answers."
Batman already knew he probably wouldn't, "I'm aware of that."
Omen shrugged, "Don't say I didn't warn you, so what's the first question?"
Batman glanced at the table before he looked at Omen again, "Did they really kill you?"
"Yup, it hurt."
"How did they kill you?"
"They electrocuted me to death, the electricity was actually ecto-energy, it killed me and the ectoplasm ensured that I'd become a ghost."
"How long have you been a ghost?"
"Six years."
"How long have you been an assassin?"
"Three years."
"We were told that you didn't have powers, plus you didn't glow before, how come they didn't know?"
Omen shrugged, "I kept it hidden, if they knew the experiments would have been so much worse."
Batman raised an eyebrow, "Experiments?"
"Yup, I'm not going to go into detail about what they did but it hurt, a lot, I hated it. The torture was even worse, they even hung me on a meat hook for five days, I have a scar from that one." Everyone was horrified when they heard that, it was only one thing that had happened to him and it was still terrible.
Batman was angry at the people that had hurt Omen, the teen's eyes were glazed over now. "Why'd they do that?"
"To break me, they wanted to make me into a weapon but that didn't work out well. I didn't even want to kill, I refused to no matter what they did to me, I never wanted to hurt anyone."
Batman swallowed nervously, "Then why did you?"
Omen looked so sad and hopeless, Robin wanted to run into the room and hug Omen but he couldn't. Omen looked at the table, "I had someone I needed to protect, I used to sneak out all the time to see them. I'd get punished every time but I didn't care, I had stopped caring what they did to me by then."
"After I found out that they were going to kill me I had to leave, I said goodbye to my friend and I disappeared. I wouldn't be surprised if they've forgotten me by now, if they do remember I'm sure they hate me. If they found out I'm an assassin they'd definitely hate me, I wouldn't blame them either."
Batman was shocked, he hadn't known just how much Omen had been through until now. Omen just stared at the table, he had thought that for years, a part of him still did, he didn't want Richard to hate him. Batman hesitated, "What about your family, do they know anything?"
Omen laughed humorlessly, "Of course they do, they're the ones that sold me to them in the first place." Batman's eyes widened and Omen would have heard the gasps of shock outside of the room if he weren't so out of it.
Batman took a deep breath, "What do you mean they sold you?"
"Exactly what I said, my parents sold me when I was four and I've been at the facility ever since then. They didn't want another kid and they needed money to continue their work as scientists. Selling me was an easy way to solve both problems at once, they sold me and I never saw them again."
Batman was absolutely horrified and angry at the same time, this poor kid had been sold by his own parents. Omen took a few seconds to bring himself back, he couldn't get lost in his own head right now. "That's about it, it's not exactly the most interesting backstory but oh well, any more questions?"
Batman shook his head, "Not at the moment, I have everything I need."
Omen smirked, "Fantastic, I'm going to find somewhere to take a nap."
Batman stood up, "I'll take you to a room you can use for now."
Omen shrugged, "Cool." Omen stood up and followed Batman out of the room, when Omen saw the faces of the other four Leaguers and the team he mentally sighed. He raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms, "What's with the weird looks?"
Miss Martian looked like she was on the verge of tears, "We didn't know."
Omen rolled his eyes, "If you say you're sorry I'll be pissed."
Aqualad looked confused, "Why would you be angry?"
"Because I hate pity, I haven't had pity for my entire life and I don't want it now. So forget about everything I said and get on with your lives, that's what I did." Omen walked away and Batman quietly sighed before he lead Omen to a spare bedroom. Omen hummed, "This room is way bigger then my cell."
Omen walked into the room and Batman figured that now would be a good time for him to leave. "I'll leave you alone." Batman left and closed the door, everything that Omen had told them was still going through his head. Omen had said all of that then forced himself to act normal, like he hadn't just admitted that his life was a living hell.
Omen jumped over the bed and twisted in the air so he landed on his back, he forgot about the wounds on his back. He hissed and rolled onto his side before he used his powers to turn off the lights and he closed his eyes. Omen fell asleep within minutes, he was exhausted and he was in pain, some rest would be good.
Batman walked back to the team and the other four Leaguers, they looked just as grim as he did. As soon as Batman tried to get the team to go back to the mountain they protested and they wouldn't leave. That was how the team ended up staying at the watch tower until something for Omen could be worked out.
