It was raining.
Baekhyun's eyes fluttered open. The first thing he laid his eyes on is the white ceiling. He reached out his hand and aimlessly groped for the familiar presence that is always lying beside him. He paused and slowly pulled back his hand to his side. The other side of the bed was empty and cold.
He finally sat up and looked around him. He tried to seek solace, but the emptiness of the room only made him feel even worst. He glanced at the window, it's already next morning, which meant that after inhaling that sleeping gas, he slept through the whole day yesterday.
"Taeyeon."he whispered her name, as if calling her name can summon her right in front of him. "Taeyeon."he mumbled to himself as he covered his own face with both of his palms before slipping them off his face lazily. He can't believe that just yesterday, they woke up together and teased each other for a while, then everything went downhill after he received that bad news about his father.
I promised to protect her. But I let her down.
He felt tears welling up at the back of his eyes, but he blinked them back, deciding that it isn't the time for him to mop around. His friends are probably waiting for him outside, he must be strong in front of them. He got up from bed and went straight to the door without even washing up. He headed straight to the living room to see all of the guardians sitting on the couch, probably waiting for him. Suho was the first to look up at him, his eyes filled with sympathy. He patted the empty spot beside him as he forced a smile on his face.
Baekhyun heaved a sigh and sat down beside him. He looked down at his entwined hands and heaved another heavier sigh again. The atmosphere around him was gloomy, everyone was in a bad mood. They are all secretly blaming themselves for what happened to the princess and reflecting on what they could have done yesterday if they had been more cautious. If only one of them went to answer the door, so that they had more time to hide and protect the Princess.
Sehun decided to break the silence. "So what should we do now?"
As nobody replied him, Chanyeol spoke up for the whole team. "We have to ask Heechul first."
The others agreed by nodding mutely.
As if the weather is crying for Baekhyun, it rained for the rest of the day.

Lord Chun's evil laughter rang throughout the throne room. He took his time going to the throne room when he heard the they finally caught the princess. He smiled smugly at her, feeling like he has already won the battle. Taeyeon glared up at him as he approached her slowly.
"My niece, you finally came back."he said.
Taeyeon just rolled her eyes and scoffed. She is never going to give in to this bastard. She is never going to let him feel her fear and make her beg him for her life. She knew that once she is captured, she is done for. Because he wanted to kill her from the very start anyway. Sparing her life and dragging her all the way back to the castle is probably his way of mocking her and hurting her pride before killing her off, at least that is what she assumes, or else why would she still be alive right now?
"You might be wondering why I am sparing your life right-"
"Skip the bullshit."she blurted out, interrupting his 'victory' speech.
"My my, the Princess has learned quite a few words. How was it living with the guardians?"
"How did you find me?"she grunted, ignoring his question. Lord Chun just grabbed the shield that belongs to one of the guards and hit her head with it.
