Book One of Virtues Series: Numbness

Chapter Nine: Nicole Ferrer (Monday's POV)

Chara was only a Dormant when she met Nicole. She had volunteered to train Chara's class since back then Nicole was the best person qualified to teach them. To help them unlock their traits. She was their age too, 13 years old but was very skilled as she was known to be the youngest Virtue of her team. She was the former Virtue of Love.

"Hello Everyone! My name is Nicole Ferrer! and I will be helping you all with unlocking your greatest talents! Now don't be shy to ask for my help!!"

The Dormants immediately took a liking to her because of her kind and friendly nature. She each helped them unlock their traits becoming friends with each one she meets in that class. But the one person she helped the most was...

"Oh! Why aren't you with your friends? They are all in a group! Come on! Let's find you a group of buddies!"

...Chara....

"O-oh...no one wants to be with me....I-I'm fine alone t-thank you though..." Chara said looking at her shyly. Back then she wasn't as confident as you think. She was quiet, shy and liked to be just by herself.

"Well....may I be your buddy then? I'll be the best buddy you could ever have! You won't be bored with me!" Nicole said putting out her hand waiting for Chara to take it. And that she did.

The two became friends after that. Nicole would spend more of her time on Chara helping her find her trait. But somehow they couldn't get it to appear.

"oh...." Chara said after she couldn't channel her trait to appear.

"Hey don't be so glum! Your trait will appear soon! Just believe in yourself! I believe in you! So you should too!" Nicole grabbed her hands and did a fist pump into the air a huge grin on her face.

Nicole always encouraged Chara. They would spend all their free times together. Laughing, training, playing games and such.

Until one day...both of them felt something more for each other. Something beyond friendship.

"N-Nicole?"

"Mhm?"

"I-I....I like you a lot...."

"Awww me too Chara! You're the bestest friend in the whole world!~"

"N-no! I don't mean like in a friend way! I mean like I REALLY like you! Like love you!" Chara said shutting her eyes as she raised her voice louder. Nicole realizing what she meant cupped her cheeks and kissed her on the lips breaking it after awhile.

"I already know silly!~ I love you like that too!~ Glad you didn't keep me waiting for too long!" She grinned shedding tears of joy as the two shared another kiss.

It was absolute heaven what they had those two. It felt like every day for them was a bright and sunny day and not even a storm could ruin it...Until one day Nicole told Chara to meet her at their usual place.

"Nicole! I'm here! What did you want to tell me?"

"Chara.....we....we can't keep doing this....i'm sorry....I-I didn't mean for this to go too far...p-please forgive me!" Nicole said crying as she runs out leaving Chara there sulking looking at the ground sadly as it rained, the happiness in her eyes gone.

"But why did Nicole leave Chara like that?! Why did she hurt her?" Alexis said in sheer disbelief looking at the ground not understanding why as I smiled gently patting her head.

"It wasn't because she had lost her feelings...it was because she was protecting Chara..." I said looking at Alexis watching her eyes widen in realization.
