Rosalynn pulled herself up onto the kitchen counter. River leaned against it at her side. “Come on Zane, be a good big brother and share the love!” Rossalynn grinned and held out her hand for the flask in Zane’s hand. He handed it over without protest, his eyes on River who pointedly ignored him. “So, where’s little Ivy at? Hmm?” Zane asked finally, watching River’s lips as she took a sip from his flask as well before handing it back to Rossalynn. “With Jules, he was adamant that she not be around Lynden or the other females for awhile, i think her hand’s going to need a cast and he wanted to take her to Doc Lauren.” Rossalynn answered, ignoring the tension in the air as easily as she ignored the laughter of Lyndan that floated to the kitchen and grated on her nerves. River tilted her head to the side, her eyes widened and she stood straight “She’s bringing in Alpha Weylin!” River hissed looking for an escape route. “So? he’ll probably look right through us like she does. Or maybe she’s managed to seduce him and they’ll come in here to fuck on the counter.” Rossalynn spat. Zale jumped away from the counter with a look of disgust on his face “Really Rossalynn? Did you have to go there?” he asked swiping the flask from her and stuffing it in his pants pocket. Rossalynn felt him the minute he entered the room, for a minute she was frozen in shock, then her head whipped up and she growled. The Alpha that was crushed to Lynden’s side had stopped in the middle of the kitchen, his eyes on Rossalynn. “Oh, my.” Lynden muttered as she sensed what everyone else was now sensing, the mate bond. “There is no way in hell.” Rossalynn said jumping off the counter. And with that, chaos broke out.

"What do you mean he's my mate?! He can't be my mate!" Rossalynn said, her face twisted in horror and desperation. River stood quiet yet protective at her side. Weylin leaned against the doorway his eyes unreadable, his expression that of complete indifference. His beta Ian stood behind him, a worried look on his face as he took in the situation. “Rossalynn! You should have seen this coming! You are of rare blood, it would only make sense for you to be an Alpha’s mate, this behavior is disgraceful!” Rossalynn stared at Lyndan in outrage, her brothers and sisters took it all in cautiously. As the second oldest she was supposed to be the second to find her mate, not the first, and not a year before her 17th birthday. It was completely unfair, a cruel form of punishment from Luna, the mother of all wolves, the moon goddess. Rossalynn had a plan, she was going to run away with her best friend River so they could join their boyfriends in the rogue packs. She was going to take Ivy away from this place and her and Jules would make a family. Everyone knew that her own boyfriend, Jules, was extremely possessive of her, he’d nearly killed her brother Nash’s best friend simply for sitting next to her on the couch. Rossalynn took a deep breath, readying herself for the words she knew would forever separate her from her family. “Rossalynn!” her brother Zale snapped giving her a look, he was oldest, he knew her plan’s, and he knew she wouldn’t accept this. Weylin seemed to sense the tension suddenly in the room and he stood straight “Don’t bother, he’s an alpha Rosalynn, a royal blooded alpha, you're not getting out of this honey.” her father whispered giving her a sad look. She loathed the pity in his eyes, hated the smug yet hateful gleam in her Lyndan’s. Fine. she thought to herself. One last dig, i’m going out with a bang. she turned and met Lynden's gaze head on. “I know, that you're not my mother, or Zale’s, that you killed her. Does it hurt? Knowing that no matter how hard you fight, or how many kids you have with my father, you’ll never be anything more than a Omega-whore to the pack?” she asked smirking. In the wake of the silence that fell over the room Rossalynn turned and stomped out of the house. With River close behind her.
