Luke's POV

Before I know it, I have to leave Ashton and go home. I really didn't want too, even though my mom is definitely going to kick my ass if I don't. Scratch that, no matter what I do she's going to send me to the pits of hell. Literally. My phone died before we got to the hospital, so who knows how many calls and angry/worried texts I missed.

Basically, I'm fucked.

Vic got to talk his parents out of punishing him over the phone. How he even managed that, I have no idea. I suppose the fact that he's never done a single bad thing in his life and that he told them his friend was in the hospital (he obviously didn't say exactly why) was enough to sway them.

Kellin on the other hand, had no such luck. The three of us suppressed our laughs as Kellin winced at the yelling from the other end of the phone. I expected this, really, since Kellin didn't exactly seem to be well behaved. The teachers all had him on their kill list; especially Mrs. Clarke, our English teacher. I internally cringed at the thought of getting on her bad side.

Once I pulled in to the driveway, I see my mother already standing outside the door. Oh fuck. She looked pissed. I gulped nervously and slowly got out of the car and made my way towards her.

She had her hands on her hips, and her eyes narrowed at me like a hawk. My mom's pink pajamas and blonde hair blew around in the cold wind; the sky was darkening more and more every second we stood out here. I hadn't realized how late it was getting.

"Get in. Now." My mom growled at me, and I ran inside, doing what I was told. One thing I learned the hard way was to always listen to my mom, or face her angry wrath. Once I stumbled in my house, my dad turned around from his position on the couch and smiled at me. He was casually drinking a beer and watching some late night show I didn't know the name of.

"Hey, son! How was school today?" Before I could choke out a response, my mother came inside and shut the door behind her. She saw my dad smiling at me, so she glared at him. He looked confused.

"What's wrong?" My dad asked my mom, who was fuming.

"Our son ditched school! And he just now comes home at--" she paused and looked up at the wooden clock on the wall. "--10:30 at night!" I bit my lip. I knew my mom wasn't gonna let this one slide. I looked over at my dad, hopeful. If he backs me up, then maybe I'll leave without a scratch.

"Well, he's a normal teenager and that's what teenagers do. They break rules once in a while." My dad looked uneasy as my mom stared at him in disbelief.

"Are you saying we should teach Luke that's it's okay to break rules?--" I stop listening to their yelling and slip out of the living room undetected. I silently thanked my dad for distracting her.

-----

I groaned, and groggily slammed the snooze button on my alarm clock with my fist. I barely managed to get any rest, as my parents wouldn't stop arguing. They never argue, and last night was probably the worst I've seen them.
