NARRATOR'S POV
Evie continued sitting against the door, too caught up in her crying to realize how fast the hours had gone.
She looked up from her head being buried in her knees, and saw that there was brightness just beginning to appear. Not only that, but she also saw a figure laying sleepfully in the opposite corner of the room. It had a dog-like shape, and its belly was rising and falling peacefully.
Evie suddenly felt relieved. The creature that was with her all night long was only an innocent little dog. She had gotten so upset for nothing.
Then she remembered the actual thing that made her scared during the darkness of the night, the lightning bolts. Why were there lightning bolts coming off from behind that dog? She thought that maybe it was her imagination. She had never had visions like that before, and if it were her imagination, the room wouldn't smell like something had burned.
She felt unsettled again, and her heart rate raised to about three times the amount of beats per minute.
As if it could hear her heart, and feel the tension in the air, the dog arose, and when it did, it growled, not at Evie, but just in general. It caught her attention, and she tugged up tighter against the door, and curled up on herself.
After the dog had finished its morning stretch, it looked at Evie with a long, cold stare, and she stared back. For some reason, she felt a connection with it, and wasn't scared anymore.
They stood like that for minutes, neither of them breaking eye contact, but then the dog did. It winced as if it were hurt. Before she knew it, Evie watched it fall to the floor, rolling in pain. She felt she had to do something, but had no clue what to do. There was nobody coming to let them out of this locked room, and no supplies within sight.
She stood up and hesitantly walked towards it, unsure whether it was a good idea, or how it was gonna end. When she reached its side, she knelt down and stroked its neck. Its skin flinched when it felt her soft touch.
Then, Evie witnessed the most horrifying thing she ever had. The dogs shape had started changing and shifting. It continued whining and squealing, whilst Evie just sat and stared in trauma.
A little more than a moment later, there lay a boy. He had wide eyes, and was breathing rapidly.
Evelyn decided to speak to him for the first time, "Hello?", she said, "Um.. Are you okay?"
For a few seconds he didn't answer, but then, so suddenly, he looked up at her. He had gorgeous blue-ish, green-ish eyes, and thick curly black hair. Evie felt fluttering in her heart, she hadn't ever seen such a beautiful person.
"Why are you in here?" He asked
Evelyn manage to snap out of it.
She wasn't expecting him to react the way he did, but answered him anyway.
"I took a couple of wrong turns, and ended up in here", she said, "But that doesn't matter, what just happened, who are you? What are you?"
He smiled, and she blushed.
They kept eye contact again for a couple of seconds, but then the door to the little room opened, bringing in a beam of light. Evie's eyes squinted at the sunlight as she saw a silhouette of someone coming through the door.
