chapter 2: initiation pt.1

3rd person p.o.v.

Damon got up as soon as the sun hit his face, and went to go change into his fighting/casual clothes. A short sleeve collared dress shirt with armor plating attached to it, Brown cargo pants, and a watch. After he washed his face, he stared dejectedly at the scars covering his left eye, nose and chest, the one on his eye covered by his light brown hair. As he looked at the bandages on his right arm, he thought sadly,' I lost everything to get what's under these... mom, dad, Layla... I'm sorry..." He turned around, and walked to his locker, unlocking it, and grabbing horizon's edge, a one-and-a-half-handed chainsword of his own design. He turned around, and noticed Morgiana had a sport sleeve on her left forearm, and as she adjusted the sleeve slightly he saw a faint blue glow. He thought,' if i didnt know any better, i'd say that that was layla's mark... but layla died before she could transfer it.' He shrugged, and sheathed horizons edge, walking to the cliff. He stood on one of the platforms, and waited. Slowly but surely, people began to file out. Morgiana stood next to him on his right. Professor ruby said," I'm sure you've heard rumors about teams. You'll form them today. But...the first person you make eye contact with upon landing will be your partner. For the next 4 years." As she said that, the platform at the far left end of the line launched the poor kid standing on it flailing and screeching into the air. As more and more people were launched, he readied himself. He looked over at morgiana, gave her a two-fingered salute and a wink, and was just barely able to catch her blush before being launched into the air. He unsheathed horizons edge, and activated its chainsword mode, wrapping it around a tree branch, and  dropping down to the ground. He saw Morgiana create a ice slide, a eerie blue glow surrounding her left forearm. He used his Phoenix walk to teleport to the end of morgiana's slide. He stormed over to her and said," You... you stole my sister's Ability. It's the only possible way you could have it, since she never transferred it. Why do you have it?!" His voice rose to a yell as he spoke. She looked away, and said,"I... I can't tell you." He activated his Ability, the bandages burning away as the marks on his arm glowed bright orange. He said in a low, dangerous tone," do better, or I'll persuade you to tell me. All humans fear ice, Dvalin, but they fear fire even more. Do you want to find out why? Or do you want to explain why you have my sister's Cryocaster?" She said," I can't tell you because I don't know!!! I just bumped into some random girl on the street, she grabbed my wrist, my arm burned, then I woke up with these marks on my arm, and found out that she and her parents had died, leaving only-" she froze, and whispered," leaving only a boy, with brown hair and blue eyes... oh my god, that was your sister..." he said," well, now i know why you have her Ability... sorry for treating you like that." Morgiana said," it's ok... I know I would've done the same... partners?" He smiled, and said," partners. Now, let's find this temple."

Damon said, " well. We found it." He grabbed a gold rook, and said, " I'm taking the other one. I'll give it to Victor when-" suddenly, Victor ran out of the forest, closely followed by Rowena. They both took one look at Morgiana and Damon, and said," RUN." Damon tossed the other gold rook to Victor, and said," here. Figured you'd want one." Their little reunion was interrupted when a deathstalker ran into the clearing, roaring a battle cry, which prompted Damon to say, " you've gotta be kidding me."
