Chapter Song: Romantic - Stanaj
The next morning, I woke up wrapped in a pair of strong arms. Breathing in a deep sigh, I slowly lean up, carefully untangling myself from Nic.
The comforter slipped down my body--my thin clothing saving me from being nude.
Glancing at the clock on Nic's bedside table, I run a hand through my hair, wincing when they get stuck in a heap of knots.
If there is one thing I didn't understand about myself, it's the fact that I'm a morning person. Being awake at 7:46 on a Sunday during spring break didn't make me a moody teenager like almost everyone else I know. It's odd.
Throwing the duvet off of my body, I slip out of the all too comfortable bed, yawning widely.
I stealthily creep around the bed to get to the set of white french doors.
The sun was just rising, it's bright light gradually illuminating a corner of the room.
Glancing over at Nic, I take in his sleeping figure. It takes me a minute to look away, but when I do there's a small smile lingering on my lips.
I slowly pull open the french doors, thankful they don't squeak at the hinges.
A gush of cool morning air hits me all at once, but I welcome it.
When I step out onto the balcony, I score the area below, taking in the sight of the sparkling crystal water in the grecian shaped pool.
The smell of the fresh morning dew made me inhale sharply. In a way, it was welcoming.
The sound of the morning birds chirping made me look up in the sky, in search of said birds.
The sound of someone's steady breathing made my heart drop, sending panic through my body for a split second.
"Morning, love. Did you sleep well?" His husky voice managed to send shivers down my spine.
"Yes." I say quietly, not bothering to turn and face him.
No. I lied. Honestly, I didn't sleep much which shocked me because I was up until 1:00 AM Friday night--technically Saturday morning.
I was too busy trying to sort through my emotions and feelings I had for the boy standing behind me. I blame him.
I've never been one to believe in true love, but I was sort of starting to rethink it. There's just something about him...
"We'll head out around noon. That'll give you enough time to get ready, right?" His hands slipped around my waist, hugging me close.
Biting my lower lip, I suppress a laugh. "Nicholas, you know I'm not the type to take hours just to do my hair and makeup. I'm a take it or leave it type of girl."
Nic's lips left a tingling feeling on my right shoulder, where he had just pressed a gentle kiss.
"That's my girl," he boasts playfully.
With a deep, controlled sigh, I finally turn to look at him
It felt like I had just gotten hit with a ton of bricks when my eyes rake over his half naked body.
His hair was sticking up in various directions, his eyes locked on me. The small grin on his lips made him look even more attractive--if possible.
"You hungry?" I manage to ask, trying to distract myself--something I've been trying to do a lot lately.
His eyebrow shot up quickly, his lips parted. "You cook?"
I allow myself a few seconds before scoffing.
