I Can't Keep Up - Tourist (feat. Will Heard)

After much negotiation, the four of us agreed on where our first destination would be today. It was Tuesday and the weather was a little nippy but that didn't stop anyone from flanking the streets.

When we all stepped out of the lobby and onto the sidewalk, we were swept into the large crowd, not really expecting to be thrown into it so abruptly.

When another large group of New Yorkers stopped at Fifth Avenue waiting at the crosswalk, we all joined in, making sure to stay close.

"Wait, which way is it?" Kat asks, looking ahead, then to the right.

"This way," Torez and I both said in unison. The thing was, we were both pointing in opposite directions.

I scowled at him which he returned quickly.

"Nic?" Kat turned to him for clearance, a thick eyebrow raised.

He looks both ways before pointing the direction I had pointed--straight.

Yes! I thought to myself. I stealthily stick my tongue out at Preston like a child when no one's paying attention, as if saying I'm right you're wrong.

He rolls his eyes in return, stuffing his hands into the front pockets of his black skinny jeans.

We seemingly flow along with the crowd, walking much faster than what would be considered a leisurely pace.

Everyone seemed to be in a rush--late for a meeting or an appointment of some sort.

I don't know about the other three but I found it difficult to keep up. Whether it was the fact that I was still cloudy from last night or just because I didn't have the energy--the reason to move that fast, I didn't know.

We were searching for this popular tourist attraction called High Line.

None of us really knew why we decided on it--most likely because we were all getting tired of disagreeing with one another.

"How far is it?" Preston basically whines, his arm thrown over Kat's shoulder casually.

The two of them were walking in front of Nic and I by a few feet but we made sure that we were close enough that if a different mob of people came towards us, we wouldn't get separated.

"It's about a twenty minute walk," Nic answers, his eyes trained ahead.

"We should have hailed a cab."

I didn't know if Nic and Kat had not heard him or were simply ignoring him, but I kept my mouth shut.

I refused to be the one to tell him that this walk will most probably be longer seeing as we did not really know where this attraction place was.

I prayed Kat and Nic were thinking the same thing, for the sake of our ears.

When Torez started complaining, you wouldn't hear the end of it until he had something else to complain about.

A long excruciating forty five minutes later, we finally spotted the park up ahead.

"I hope this fucking place was worth it," I grumble, crossing my arms firmly over my chest.

Kat looked over at me, a small smile lingering on her lips. "It will--" She was always the assuring type. "I hope--" At least in front of others.

When we climbed the steps that lead to the walkway, I inhaled sharply.

There was a railroad track running right next to a sidewalk, green shrubbery dotting the tracks.
