Your stay with the Pines started off a bit awkward as your presence seemed to take some getting used to. Though after a full day of you being around, almost everyone warmed up to you. Wendy and Soos even made sure to tell you goodbye before they left to go home when their shifts were over. Mabel and Dipper had completely cleaned the guest room and it was spotless and quite cozy. Wendy was nice enough to let you borrow an extra set of clothes she had brought with her than she always has just in case. Stan and Ford showed you to the bathroom and told you to do whatever you needed and that all the food in the shack was yours to gorge upon. You thanked them and slipped into the bathroom, ready to be clean again.

You were now clean and changed into the t-shirt and sweatpants, and socks that Wendy left for you. You were quite comfy and your cuts and scratches weren't nearly as bad as you thought. Though your body was still exhausted and in pain from all the running. You were currently sitting in the attic with Mabel and Dipper who had generously invited you to play a board game with them.
"Alright alright, Mabel it's your turn," you said as you sucked on a lollipop and laughed at Dipper's groan when you knocked his piece off the board for a third time.
"It's no fair! (Y/n) you must be magic or something! Are you a leprechaun? There's no way your that lucky!" Dipper said pulling his hat off and tossing it at you. Your caught it and slapped it on your head as you laughed.
"Not my fault I have major skill Dipster, you just gotta get on my level." You giggled with Mabel as Dipper's cheek grew red from embarrassment. You had already begun to feel an attachment to these twins, sure they may have been thirteen, but they were pretty awesome. You had already given them nicknames, Mabes and Dipster, which they seemed to love.
"Ha! I triumph again!" Mabel said as she stood up and threw her hand in the air as you and Dipper groaned.
"How am I the one who's magic when your sister beats us literally every time!" You laugh.
"Cause that's just how Mabel works," he laughs with you.
"All hail Mabel! Overlord of the board games," the brunette yelled as she flipped the board as you and Dipper laughed and played along.
"We aren't worth Overlord Mabel!" You exclaimed.
"Have mercy on our poor souls," Dipper clutched his chest and fell over in a dramatic fashion as you all laughed.
"So, what do you two wanna do now?" You asked as you smiled, throwing the stick to your lollipop away. They looked at each other with a slightly serious face, as if they were asking each other something then looked back to you with smiles.
"We actually wanna show you something," Mabel said as Dipper got up and grabbed three books from his shelf and came back. On the front of each red journal was a gold, six fingered hand with the numbers one, two, or three.
"Oh wow, these are awesome," you stated as you picked up the second journal and began to flip through it.
"Aren't they? Our Grunkle Ford wrote them! He's kind of an investigator when it comes to all the weird creatures of Gravity Falls. Each book contains all the strange creatures he has found in the Falls, we thought that maybe if you looked through these... you might..." Dipper trialed off.
"You might be able to know what chases you in the woods that night," Mabel finished softly as your eyes widened. Their faces became intent as you closed the journal and set it down.
"Awe guys... I appreciate it but I really don't know what I saw. I didn't even get a good look at the outline of it to ha able to know," you said as their faces turned to worry as they looked at one another.
"We just don't want you to be afraid or to get hurt (Y/n)..." Mabel said as Dipper sighed. You looked at them and smiled softly as you ruffled Mabel's hair and straightened Dipper's hat.
"Why would I be afraid when I have the most amazing twins in the world by my side now? No weird shadow monster can even touch the amazing Dipster and Mabes," you smiled brightly as they followed and laughed along.
"We'll protect you (Y/n)! We won't let anything hurt you!" Dipper said as he stood up with his hands on his hips. Mabel followed his actions with a large, brace-filled smile.
   "You got that right, Bro-Bro!"
"You guys are seriously the best," you said shaking your head and laughing as you picked up one of the journals and flipping through its contents. Dipper looked at you and smiled as her handed you the other two journals. "Huh? What're you doing Dipster?"
"You can borrow them and read them while you are resting up and getting better! It will give you something interesting to read about!" He enthused as you looked at the journals.
"Whoa, really?! Thanks!" You smiled and poked his nose, "I appreciate it!" He blushed as he covered his nose and looked away, scratching the back of his head.
"Y-yeah, it's no biggy," he said trying to play off his embarrassment which made you giggle.
"Hey Dipper, it's midnight, we should get to bed," Mabel said pointing at the clock on the wall. He nodded as he looked back to you as you stood up.
"Well, goodnight you two, see you in the morning! Thanks again for the journals Dipster," you said as you walked to the door.
"Y-You're welcome, sleep well (Y/n)!" He called back.
"Goodnight (Y/n)," Mabel called afterward.
"Night you two!" You said before closing the door and walking downstairs into your guest room, the three journals clutched to your chest. You closed the door to your room and plopped into the bed with the journals, opening the first one with an open mind as you began to read about the amazing creatures that inhabited Gravity Falls.
You yawned as you glanced at the clock and your eyes widened, two forty in the morning comes fast doesn't it? You put the journals on your beside table, having already completed the first one, and on the second one, leaving it open where you stopped. Before you turned off the light you mumbled allowed the name of the creature you were going to read about next.
"Creature number three twenty six, Bill Cipher, the Dream Demon. Huh, sounds interesting, but it can wait until tomorrow," you yawned as your turned off the lamp and let your head hit the pillow, you body welcoming the feeling of sleep as you pulled the blanket over yourself.
