Logan’s POV:
Man I’m starving. I set my tray down next to Eri who was busy talking to Kathryn and Suki about the mission we went on last night.
“Guys, so I was wondering. Do you wanna be in a party..” Kathryn said looking at everyone.
“What do you mean a party?” Suki asked taking a sip of her soda.
“You know we go on missions together.. If there are more of us we can go on higher level missions.” Kathryn said smiling.
She reached into her pocket pulling out a mission slip. She nudged Drew to explain the mission.
I looked over at Eri to see how she was taking the new idea. She had her arms folded across her chest leaning back on her seat, listening intently.
When I first met Eri, I thought she was really mysterious and shy. She sat at the back of our combat class when she came in.
But, now since I’ve gotten to know her so much better… She was so strong, was able to handle her own and fun to be around.
“Okay, I guess I’m explaining.” Drew said taking the slip of paper and flipping his silky black hair.
“Okay, so there are 30 souls that we can collect if we complete the missions. So each of us get 10. Anyway.. We are hunting a gang, this is a level 3 meister mission. So, if we wanted to complete this we need a group.” Drew said sliding the slip to Spencer so he could read it.
“Works for me.” Spencer said reading over the mission.
“Kathryn and Spencer are able to see souls so.. Won’t be too hard to locate them.”Suki said.
“Where are they located?” I said leaning forward putting my elbows on the table resting my head in my hands.
“Some island called Felisimo. Its a small island its mostly a boating dockyard, so we won’t have to cover much ground.” Suki said resting her head on Spencer’s shoulder.
“Alright, Spencer and Suki are in. Eri?” Kathryn said looking over at Eri who was looking down at table.
“I will do it. We will discuss the plan when we reach the island.” Eri said standing up from the table. “I’m gonna get going. We got Dr.Stein next. I will save all of you a seat.” Eri said collecting her things and walking out of the lunch room.
My eyes followed her as she left.
“Don’t worry, she is fine.” Kathryn said looking at me with a small smile.
“I see you care for her a lot. I looked at both of your souls.. I also noticed that your souls are starting to become entwined… Thats really good.” Kathryn said winking at me.
I blushed lightly and smiled rubbing the back of my neck. “Wow, I never knew that. So what does that mean ‘entwined’?”
“Well, basically you guys can resonate quicker and you are more stronger. Well, it doesn’t really matter because you both are one of the strongest pairs in the Academy.” Spencer said punching my shoulder lightly.
“Sweet! Welp, I’m going to go find Eri.” I said standing up grabbing my things. I waved goodbye and went out the doors Eri did.
I walked down the hallway to Dr.Stein’s class. She wasn’t here.
I asked Dr.Stein where she went and he said she went to outside to the wall.
I jogged outside and up the path to the wall that looked over the school.
I heard grunting up ahead, I slowed down and crouched down. I crawled over to the wall and peaked my head over the top.
I saw Eri, was fighting a dummy that she must have gotten from the fighting class. She was punching and kicking it, and dodging between every attack she did.
Then Eri did a back handspring and spun on her one knee pulling out two little blade and threw them at the dummy. They hit the dummy straight in the heart.
Woah. She is amazing. I never really got to see her fight just by herself..
She sprinted at the dummy jumping over it. She wrapped her legs around its neck and did a back handspring. She pinned the dummy to the ground and pulled the knife that was strapped to her thigh. Placing it to its neck.
I stood up and began to clap. “Nice moves.” I said walking closer.
She pulled the blades out of the dummy and put them back in her boot.
“Thanks. Do you usually stalk me?” Eri smirked at me putting her hands on her hips.
I backed away and tried to look embarrassed “Why would I do that? Your accusing me of stalking you, your loyal weapon?” I said laughing lightly then did a mocking bow. She smiled and rolled her eyes.
“So what are you doing out here?” She asked walking to the wall grabbing her water bottle that sat next to her bag.
“I came out here to see what you were up to.” I said sitting down on the wall.
“Oh.” Eri said taking a swig of her water and then setting it down. “Come on. I wanna try something.” Eri set out her hand to help me up.
“What are we doing?”
“I wanna try soul resonance. I know we haven’t tried it yet, but.. Since we are going on this mission we should see what we can do.”
“Alright, just be ready. If it doesn’t work we gonna get tossed a little.” I said transforming into my katana form.
“Lets go! Soul resonance!” We said in unison. A light aurora started to outline our body.
“Lets try increasing our power!” Eri said as she stood there with the me in front of her face with her eyes closed. The aurora started to glow brighter.
Then the aurora disappeared. “Fuck” Eri said as she fell back dropping me.
“Ugh, we were so close!”
“Damn it! Again.” Eri said getting up grabbing me.
“Eri, we can try it later. We have to get to class. It doesn’t matter if we don’t get it the first time.” I said reforming in front of her. “Lets go to class before we become Dr.Steins next experiment.”
