Logan’s POV:
“Whats wrong with Eri? She seems to be acting strange.” I said looking at my friends who were all standing around my bed.
“I have no idea…” Kathryn said giving me a half smile.
“She probably is really torn up that you almost died.” Drew said.
“Thats crazy, she knows its a weapons duty to protect their meister even if that means dying for them.” I said sitting up.
“Yeah well.. I don’t know.” Suki said looking down with a sad expression.
A hour and a half later…
Where is Eri. She said she was going to be home..
I went into her room and saw a note on her bed. I picked it up and read: Went to go practice. Will be back later. -Eri.
I grabbed my jacket and walked over to the school. I went over to Eri’s usual practicing spot and watched her for a bit.
She had cloth wrapped around her knuckes and was throwing knifes at a tree. Eri walked over to the tree to grab her knifes but instead of pulling them out she stood there.
“I’m such an idiot.” She whispered before punching the tree. She hit the tree repeatedly punching hard and harder every time.
I looked at her expression and it was dull. I looked at her eyes and they were blood shot. Has she been crying?
She didn’t even wince when shit punched the tree. She just stared blankly at it.
“Eri! Stop that.” I said rushing over grabbing her arm before she could hit the tree again.
She looked up at me and with a sad expression. “Logan? What are you doing here.”
“Well, I saw your note so I decided to come and watch you.”
“You don’t need to worry about me. I’m fine.” She said releasing her hand from my grasp grabbed her knifes and walked to the wall.
I followed her and sat next to her.
I looked down at her hands and noticed that the white cloth was now starting to turn red.
“Your hand. Eri, you need to be careful.” I said grabbing her hand and began to unravel the cloth. She pulled her hand away and clasped her hands together against her lap.
“Leave them. They are my reminders.” She said looking down her hair fell in front of her face hiding her eyes.
“What do you mean its a reminder?” I said looking at her.
“It reminds me of what happened. It was my fault you almost died. I should’ve sensed him. I’m a horrible assassin. Its rule number one to tune your ears to the enemy.” She said rubbing her knuckles with her thumb.
“You're not a horrible assassin. You're the best fucking meister I have ever seen.” I said grabbing her hand pulling her into me. I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her. “You don’t need to protect me. Because thats my job.”
“I will always protect you. I am your weapon and you are my meister. I will lay my life down for you, if that would mean you got to see another day.”
“No, I need to protect you. I need to be strong for you. I can’t lose you.” She said clenching my shirt tightly.
“Eri, look at me.” I said as she looked up at me.
“I love you. As long as we are together I promise you we will always be strong as long as we are together.” I said leaning in kissing her on the lips.
“You love me?” She said smiling lightly at me.
“Of course I love you! You mean the world to me. Do you not love me?” I said eyeing her. Her smile faded into her normal expression and she pushed me away. I looked at her with a confused face. “Huh?”
“How dare you ask me that. Why wouldn’t I love you.” She said looking at me smiling. I smiled back at her then hugged her.
“Come on, lets go home. Your cooking tonight.” I said putting my arm around her as we walked.
