Prologue (IV)

"Me?" I ask.

"Yes you, Archer." And all the people around me look at me, some with pitying eyes and others with shock.

"Okay.." I drawl.

"Now." She points and I send a prayer to heaven to save me from whatever it is.

Hughes is the director of Elixir and whenever he personally meets someone, its either because he or she is fired for bad work or he's just not happy with that person.

Whatever it is they both don't quite sound nice to me.

I stand up and I hear a click and my ankle twists.

Bloody traitor heels.

Good day so far.

I borrow Sarah's flats and I still stand tall at 5'9".

I take a deep breath, adjust my glasses, smoothen my pony and head straight for Hughes's office.

"May I come in, sir?" I say faking the sweetest voice ever.

"Ah yes, Faye, come in, come in." he says smiling perfectly.

Jesus he'd have been attractive if he wasn't him.

Another man sat on the chair in front of him but he had his back to me all the time.

"Just a minute, Richard." He smiles and turns to me.

"So Faye," he whispers "this is a very important task I'm giving to you right now. I need you to prove yourself and this is a very important deal for Elixir, if you do it well, you can have anything you want." He pauses briefly and my mind goes blank.

"Okay sir.." I try to ask further but he speaks instead.

"You have an interview with Mr. Brown right this afternoon. Make it quick, the required documents, his background etc. have been set down in your cabin already." He smiles, "Am I clear?"

"Yes sir." I say, still clueless as ever.

"Any doubts or clarifications?"

"No-sir, but I don't have a cabin." I say a little embarrassed and look sideways to hide myself as I see the man on the chair turn a little."

"You didn't Faye, now you do. Go." He smiles ever so widely.

I think this is my chance, and I would do anything to make the best out of it.
