Chapter 9

Irwin's P.O.V

My men... they're being lost to easily...

The female titan... she's being devoured by titans. Just a few simple things pass my mind right now.

The Human Inside Escaped.

Cannibalism.

Retreat.

Scarlet.

Wait where's Scarlet!

I glanced around everywhere to see her in a male's arms. Her stomach is getting redder and redder by the minute. I can't bear this much longer.

"RETREAT!!! FALL BACK TO THE WALLS OF KARANES!!!" I shouted and used my maneuver gear to get out of the forest to meet all the men back at the carts.

Scarlet's P.O.V.

It's so dark...

It's so cold...

Where am I? Klyde where are you? Big brother? Big brother where are you??

"Scarlet!!" I suddenly burst my eyes open to see that I was laying down inside a cart. My coat was next to me my bottom half was wrapped with wrap.

Krista sat by my side. We were about the same height so we were able to see eye to eye.

"You looked like you were having a bad dream." She said in a concerned tone.

That's when I remembered who I was dreaming about...

I struggled and pulled myself up, "Where's Klyde I need to see him..." My hands reached for my coat and it was very painful for me to place it on.

"Scarlet where are you going you need to rest!!" Krista said as she placed a hand on top of mine, "And your brother Kylde... he's..."

No don't say it Krista...

"He's what... Krista as your superior I order you to tell me... Where is my brother...." My voice was shaky already I could tell.

Suddenly a warm gentle feeling appeared on my shoulder. I turned around to find Commander Erwin. His face was blank and sad...

"Scarlet, lay down and rest and I'll tell you about your brother..." He guided me towards the cart nearest to his horse and laid me down before talking.

"Your brother Scarlet... he was killed by the female titan..." He said quietly as he held onto my hand.

"Wh-" I sat up but immediately fell back because of the pain in my abdomen. "H-he can't be dead... no he made me a promise..." I already felt tears going down my eyes, "He was the last thing I ever held dear to my heart in my family... And now he's gone!"

"I know..." he said quietly as he held me close to him.

"I'm all alone now. My best friend Petra is dead. My brother is dead... I have nobody but Levi..." I cried into his chest without realizing that he could get mad.

But to my surprise he didn't. He just pulled me closer to him and rubbed my back gently with his hand.

"You're not alone Scarlet. You have Levi. And you have me. When we get back Scarlet there is something I have to tell you. But for now please just get some rest.'' After a moment of silence he laid me back down and walked away.

Please don't go... I felt like I could stay in your warmth forever..
