Chapter 13

Scarlet's P.O.V.

I woke up to the sounds of birds tweeting outside my window. My head was pounding like crazy and I was in the same clothes as yesterday.

"I guess that wasn't all a dream..." I got out of bed and reached for my uniform.

I'm honestly not looking forward to today. I'm positioned with Commander Erwin all day. At least I'm with Levi so if anything happens I've got him.

"Captain Scarlet? It's time for breakfast. We roll out in an hour." I heard Sasha's voice outside my door.

"Hold on a second! I'll walk with you to the dining hall." I shouted as I placed on my jacket. Sitting on my vanity was the necklace Commander Erwin gave me. I haven't gone a day without wearing it. It was my way of showing that I loved him.

But after what happened yesterday , I can't help but have different thoughts about it. I do love him, I really do. Now that I think about it, he gave this to me because he 'loved' me too.

"Captain?" Sasha knocked again, "Are you alright?"

"Oh?! I'm sorry! I'm coming right now!" I decided to wear the necklace because I do love him. This'll prove I do. I don't care if he doesn't love me. I love him.

I quickly ran over to the door and pulled it open, "Alright let's go get breakfast."

I had a smile on my face but deep down inside I was hurting.

Erwin's P.O.V.

"So everything that happened last night was not planned?" Hanji took a sip of her tea and sighed, "Poor Scarlet was so hurt. I consider her the little sister I never had."

"I already told Sarah I never loved her. I was a child and I didn't know what I was doing." I took a bite of my biscuit and looked over at Levi who had his leg up on the bench.

"I went through three years of hell with that girl. Never in my entire life have I seen her that hurt," Levi sighed and set his tea cup down and brought his leg down, "Don't look now but your fiancé just walked in with her breakfast and she's heading this way with her food."

Soon enough Scarlet set down her tray of food next to Levi and plopped down next to him quietly.

"Good Morning..." She muttered quietly and pushed her food around with her fork.

I really want to bring her in my arms and comfort her apologizing to her. For once I found someone who I love and truly loves me back and I screw up all of it. No, Sarah is the one to blame. No, I am. I let my guard down so easily.

"Oi Scarlet am I going to have to force you to eat?" Levi nagged and nudged her arm.

Scarlet's eyes were filled with sadness. She stayed silent and continued to push her biscuit and eggs around on her plate.

"I'm not going to have you go fainting on me again. You're going to eat," Levi grabbed a piece of her biscuit and shoved it in her mouth, "Now chew."

Slowly, we were able to see her jawline move. And soon she swallowed it.

"Good. Now eat your eggs." Levi shoved a forkful of eggs into her mouth.

Suddenly a pout appeared on Scarlet's face, "Geez Levi... you don't have to feed me like a little baby."

Suddenly Hanji bursted out laughing. She was bent over onto the table laughing so hard she was crying.

"What's so funny?" Scarlet and Levi both said in unison. They both had the same look on their faces.

"It's just that, Scarlet, you really did look like a little baby. And Levi really did look like a big brother who would be feeding you." She sat back up straight and wiped a tear.

"Too soon." Scarlet said quietly an then flicked Levi in the head, "And what have you permission to feed me like a baby?"

"Oi!" Levi pulled her ear, "You weren't eating so I had to make sure you would have enough nutrition for the day! I can't have you going around on an empty stomach!"

The two or them fought like they were actual brother and sister. And I think they were actually trying to cheer her up. All that's left was my part to make everything better.

"How much time do we have left?" I turned to one of my assistants as they were walking by.

"30 minutes sir."

"Alright thank you," I turned back towards the table and sighed, "Begin to get ready now. Inform everyone else. Levi help Scarlet with getting her horse ready. She is to use it since she isn't fully healed."

Her bandaged that covered her wounds were still clearly visible.

Levi and Scarlet both walked out of the dining hall and to the horse stables.

The truth is, I wanted to get the chance to talk to Scarlet alone. So I planned on meeting them at the horse stables and getting Scarlet to be with me all alone.

Soon enough the whole Survey Corps were up and getting ready to depart. They were to hide within the Capitol just in case the female Titan does break out.

I stood up and walked out of the dining halls. Every corner was filled with my Soldiers putting on their 3DMG.

Finally I made it to the horse stables. Levi and Scarlet were talking and I didn't want to interupt. So I hid behind a haystack and listened carefully.

"Scarlet are you sure that you're capable of going on this trip?" Levi asked.

"I'm not weak Levi. I'm going to help."

"Geez you're such a little kid. Scarlet you're hurt you know that? It's best for you to recover. You can always stay here and just recover."

"Levi you know I hate waiting."

"Alright I give up. Bur just stay by my side since I know you and Erwin aren't exactly on good terms."

"Thanks Levi..." She said quietly and hopped onto her horse.

"Excuse me," I came out, "Is it alright if I get to talk to Scarlet alone?"

Scarlet looked down with her hair covering her face. She remained silent and fiddled with the reins of her horse.

"I suppose so. But Erwin if she comes back crying..." Levi walked away without finishing his sentence.

Soon enough Scarlet and I were alone in the stables. She hopped off of her horse but stayed close to it without making eye contact with me.

This is it. This is my chance to make things right with her. Don't screw it up Erwin.

"Scarlet listen. It's all about everything that happened last night..."
