Chapter 27

1 Month Later

Erwin's P.O.V.

Scarlet has been such a great help ever since we've gotten married. She's helped me get so much more work done. Even the preparations for the next expedition have been going well.

"Erwin, I've brought your breakfast." Scarlet slid into my office holding a tray of food for me.

She set it down on my desk and then smiled, "I'm going back to training my Squad. It's been a while and I think they're done with being under Mike's command."

I smiled at her and stood up and walked over to the window, "That's good. You'll be with them during this expedition not with me alright?"

She nodded, "We're going to go train with the horses," I felt her presence next to me as she leaned out to look at all the soldiers getting ready for the day, "They really need to improve on their horse work."

Her head leaned onto my chest and she took a deep breath, "Erwin... later on can I ask you something?"

"Later? Not now?"

She smiled at me, "It's fine. When we have more time together I'll ask you okay?"

I cupped her cheek in my hand and gently stroked it while staring into her eyes, "Alright my love."

Soon enough our lips met for the first time in a few days. The two of us have been so busy we haven't had time for each other.

When we pulled away she wrapped her arms around me, "Can I stay with you tonight? I miss you Erwin."

Slowly she let go of me and walked to the door.

"You can stay with me of course."

Scarlet smiled warmly and then waved, "Alright my love. I love you. I'll see you later."

Scarlet's P.O.V.

"CAPTAIN SCARLET!!!!" Everyone shouted and ran over to me.

Rose and Anna tackled me, "We didn't get to congratulate you after got married so... CONGRATULATIONS"

Edward and Clyde walked over to smiling, "That means we better listen to you or Commander could do something to us."

"You guys are such teases." I chuckled and walked over to my horse.

All of them did the same thing and we made our way out to the fields. Anna and Edward rode by my side as we raced through the fields working on our agility.

When Rose and... Clyde... went through and raced Anna and I decided to talk.

"So how is you and Commander doing?" She asked.

"Amazing. Erwin is a sweet husband and an amazing husband.." I said in a dreamily tone.

"Let's hope that doesn't affect your skills." Edward butted in.

Erwin's P.O.V.

"What do you mean she's been sick all her life?!" I slammed my hand down on the desk as I spoke with Seth.

He had come to inform me about Scarlet's health after she went to an inspection.

"Erwin... she doesn't know it but she's sick. And unable to have children..." He said quietly.

Unable to have children?

"I-I don't know what to say..." I sat down on my chair and placed my head in my hands.

I wanted to eventually start a family with her. How am I going to tell her is she doesn't know?

"I'm sorry Erwin. I should've told you earlier," Seth said as he looked away, "I just didn't want to ruin anything."

I turned my head and noticed Scarlet making her way inside the HQ. She'll probably be up here any minute since it's almost time for dinner now.

"I should get going... Farewell Erwin." Seth stood up and walked out into the hallway.

"Oh Seth!" I was able to hear her sweet voice down the hall.

After a few minutes of mumbles in the hallway Scarlet slipped into my office, "Hello Erwin!"

I lifted my head up and gave her a small smile on my face, "Hello."

She closed my office door and then walked over to me, "My squad sure has improved. But I'm tired... Sometimes I wonder why I'm tired all the time..."

It's because your sick...

"Erwin? Is everything alright?" She placed her hand on my chest as I stood up.

I can't tell her now. I just can't. We've only been married for a month. I just can't.

"Y-yes." I lied.

I hate lying to the woman I love. It's like I'm hiding behind a mask. A mask that gets heavier and heavier every minute I hide this from her.

Suddenly her arms wrapped around me, "Erwin you can tell me anything." Her eyes were telling me something. She knew something was up.

"You can tell me anything as well my love." I gave her a small smile and brushed a strand of hair out of her face.

"Speaking of that...Erwin can I ask you something?" She looked deep into my eyes.

I took a seat on my chair with her on my lap, "Anything."

"Do you ever think," she shuffled a bit, "We could start a family?"
