The Big Surprise

Three years can fly by so Fast when you are staying busy and having fun, so they say, and for Fate and Stephen and Anna Lynn that's just what it did.

Suddenly before they knew it Anna Lynn was turning 18 and she had a surprise she was hiding from her parents.

When Anna Lynn was seventeen she had met a boy. His name was John. He was such a handsome young boy. She had met him in her senior year in High School. I would definitely say they were high school sweethearts to say the least. He was a football player and she was a cheerleader, they really made the perfect match, but as her heart grew fonder and fonder of him, her parents began to worry about their so called "love".

" I just want you to be careful and guard your heart while your still so young..." Her mother told her one evening as they were arguing about a rumor Fate had heard about him being a 'bad boy' around town from one of Anna Lynn's friends mom.

"Oh! You don't even know him!" Anna screamed back. " Why do you believe everything people tell you?! People do lie...you know. Besides you met dad when you were only nineteen?!" Anna was such a smarty pants and she knew it.

" I am just saying..." Fate sighed as she stared at her husband Stephen who was trying not to get involved. Then she asked him. " What do you think Stephen?"

"Uhm." He coughed as if he wasn't listening. " Well hun, maybe Anna Lynn is right. We don't really know him as well as she does..." This made Anna start beaming from ear to ear she loved to hear it when she was right and all. But then Fate started to beam at him and he felt as if the room was getting hotter. So the. He turned to Anna and said " Now this gives me an idea, why don't you invite him over tomorrow night for dinner. So we can meet him and decide for ourselves what we think about this young man."

"Ugh. He does have a name you know and it's John...by the way... and Why are y'all being so complicated..." she whined. Then stated " it's like y'all both don't trust me! Whatever, Fine then I Will invite him over and then y'all will both feel stupid about believing some old woman's rumor." She was done with the conversation and with her mad face she marched off to her bedroom upstairs.

That evening Anna Lynn stayed up all night talking on the phone with John. He gave her a tingling sensation in her tummy every time she heard his voice. This was the first person she had ever fallen in love with and she believed with all her heart it would last forever just like her mom and dads did. I mean what could go wrong...? Right.

The next evening after Stephen Promised Fate three times that he wouldn't bring his guns out for show and scare off the poor boy, John, she began making dinner for them all to enjoy that evening. Fate was actually excited herself to meet this young man and even though Anna Lynn would never admit it, she was pretty ecstatic herself about the dinner. John promised he would be there around five o'clock, and when time came around for him to show they all in their own way, waited.

They waited, and waited, until soon it was six.

" Well...Where is he?" Stephen finally asked the now nervously wrecked face Anna.

" I dunno? He promised he would come last night over the phone...Don't look at me like that, mom!" She said as her mother and father were now both looking towards her.

" Oh. Anna don't be so dramatic, why don't you just give him a call and find out if he is still coming. Maybe something came up and he forgot to call you, sweetheart." Fate explained.

"Fine!" Anna exclaimed. As she stomped off to get the telephone.

Ten minutes went by and Anna was back in the living room with tears in her eyes that she just couldn't hide.
