It's back to the Present now, Back in the year 2015, just in case you forgot, Stephen is 57 years old. It was Only two days before Christmas, and he was up in Fate's bedroom reading the end of her last journal. When suddenly his cell phone began to ring. It was late in the evening around 9:00pm. He was just about to go to bed. But it was his work calling. Which they never did this late, so he had to answer it because it must be an emergency call, which it was.
They needed him to come in to the plant, where he was the engineer at, he worked at a house building wear house plant where they supplied all the parts for building a home. He designed all the machinery and one of the main machines had gone down and they had no idea how to fix it. They couldn't wait for morning and as usual when these emergency calls would come he would have to go in.
It only took him one hour to get to his job and he made it there fine, he fixed the machine and it took him a couple of hours so he ended up staying till 2:00am in the morning before he could leave.
The drive home was peaceful but it made him very dizzy besides that he hadn't slept for a bit and hadn't been up so late in a while. Soon the lines began to blur and and he knew he needed to pull over before driving any further. He was only twenty minutes from his house, so he pulled off to the side of the road for a while to take a short break. As he did, a fourteen wheeler was driving by and he was also very tired for he had been driving over his 12 hour shift like they are not suppose to do, but, hey, he had a deadline to make. He was also eating while he was driving and wasn't paying much attention to the road, very less the side of it, it was so dark outside anyways, all most pitch black except for his headlights that were on normal. He began to take another bite of his sand which when suddenly before he had a second to think, Bam! Bam! Bam! He heard. He was a little shaken up himself as he knew he had swerved and hit something. But his fourteen wheeler was very big compared to Stephen's little BMW he had and so the truck driver was hoping he had hit something small.
But it was Stephen car he had hit and as he hit it from the side Stephen was asleep in on the drivers side. This impact crushed Stephen in his car, but that was the first bang. The second bang sound happened because his car then flipped over to the side and then Bang! Again. It flipped completely over.
The truck driver who knew he had hit something or someone or some car, knew in his heart he should pull over and see what he had hit, but like I said he didn't feel much of an impact and thought it was just something minor, and if he drove on, he knew the cops wouldn't know it was him, I mean nobody saw him, they were like the only two cars on the whole street. So the truck driver drove on into the night as if nothing had happened.
Stephen on the other hand was pinned up against his seat and the middle console, he was knocked unconscious, his air bags had deployed and his windows all crashed open, he was barely even alive when some woman driving by saw his car and 911 got there. His whole half side of his head had been cut deeply open and blood was pouring out of it. Glass was even stuck all in him but especially in his head. By the time paramedics got there he was just about done breathing, they tried to get him on some oxygen and transferred him immediately to the down town hospital thru life flight. But by the time he would reach the hospital, he had taken his last breathe and died on the way there.
This was a devastating thing to happen. When Anna Lynn finally got the call it was hours later. And his body had all-ready been taken to the city morg. They called her to let her know of the tragic death, and to also let her know she needed to come in and identify the body as soon as she could possibly within the next day or so.
So she did and yes it was him. His body was pretty torn up all she had to see was her fathers face and she knew it was him.
Anna Lynn was feeling mad at the world for the first day when she came home from work to her husband, Ken. She was furious and upset and sad all at the same time.
" Oh! Ken! Why would God take him like that? Why would he do all of this to me? I barely had a mother and now he took my dad away and mom she may never wake up! I mean he didn't even get to say goodbye. And how am I suppose to tell all this to Noah?" She was crying now. She was mad at God too. She felt like she just couldn't handle things anymore. " I need my dad here!" She stomped off to her room.
Ken came in a while later that evening, because he wanted to give her some space, she was lying in bed covered all up in a bundle, still crying.
He handed her some tissue paper and some coffee he had made her and said in a gentle loving voice... " I know how upset you are, I am sad too, I loved being around your father. Together we will figure out how to tell Noah. But try and don't be mad at God, God's ways are always the right ways. Even when we don't understand it all. It's apart of his plan, maybe it was just his time, Anna." He was such a good husband to her, he always knew what to say and when to say it. How did she get so lucky. She thought for a moment before she was sad again.
She stayed in bed for the rest of the night. She had a whole funeral to arrange for her dad and in three days time. She decided to tell Noah the day before the funeral. He was old enough to understand what was all going on, for he was 11 years old now.
But Noah was so smart he knew something was going on, and he waited and waited for his mom or dad to break the news to him. He had never seen his mom so down and depressed before, he figured either papa died, or grandma did. He just wasn't sure until they told him.
The day before the funeral, both his parents sat Noah down and begin to tell him what was going on. "Noah," his mom said first " Papa, well Papa passed away a few nights ago, he was in a bad car crash and on his way to the hospital he died."
"WHAT! I knew something was going on." He screamed back. " why did you wait to tell me? I should have known sooner!" he exclaimed.
Anna Lynn was shocked at the tone in his voice but he was becoming a young teenager so she figured hormonal changes plus sadness equals anger or something like that.
His father, Ken then said, " Well we didn't think telling you sooner would be helpful, we were only looking out for your best interest." He said lovingly.
"My best interest?!?! What about Papa? I should have been praying for him for the last two nights? Oh, No, do you think he made it to Heaven? Ugh. I should have known!" This was the last thing Anna Lynn expected to come out of Noah's mouth? Heaven? Since when have they ever talked about Heaven as a family? And man, noah seemed so upset about it. She didn't even know that Noah prayed. They had never done that together before either. Basically she was just in shock.
" I am sorry Noah." She said after a moment of thinking things over. "You are right. We should have told you the minute it happened. Please forgive us." She was crying again.
"I just need some space, okay." He then stormed off to his room.
Noah was so mad at his mom and dad he could barely think straight. He was just like his grandfather always letting his anger go red. He began to throw everything around in his bedroom. He just wanted his papa here again, and he was mad, felt as if because he didn't pray those last nights, maybe papa wouldn't have made it to Heaven. And it would have been all his fault.
This made his mom super curious about the whole Noah is religious, and she didn't even know it. Or how it even became to be. She thought she knew her son like a book, but wow! Was she wrong. She felt like this must have been her dads doing while they spent time together who knows what they talked about without her present. She felt pretty bad now also, and she was mad at God earlier? What would he be thinking of her now. She knew she had to figure it out, though. She needed to get on her son's level, so she could have the right kind of relationship with him. And maybe then she could comfort him in the way he really needed. And maybe, so did she.
