Fate and Stephen Loved being grandparents. They couldn't stop spoiling little Noah Charles Hamilton. He pretty much got everything he wanted. And he was a really good baby and he barely ever even cried. Anna Lynn was a proud mother and you could see it on her face how much she just adored her baby.
Anna would begin go back to college during the day and she went ahead and put Noah in a daycare. Even tho Fate insisted she stay home with Noah they all didn't want to put so much hard work and pressure on Fate and they simply told her no, this upset Fate at first but she got over it after having a long discussion with Stephen about it.
A whole year went by so fast, and before they realized it Noah was one years old.
When Fate was cleaning one afternoon, while everybody else was gone, she decided to take an anxiety pill and take a short nap before everyone came home. She had just finished preparing dinner and the whole house was cleaned and tidied up. And to be honest she just didn't have anything else to do or planned so she didn't see the harm in it.
She was asleep about thirty minutes until suddenly the telephone began to ring and it shook her up. She was feeling a little loopy as she got up to go find the phone. She felt dizzy as she stumbled around trying to find it and she looked everywhere. The phone kept ringing and ringing so she figured maybe something or somebody important was on the line. She decided to go ahead and walk upstairs to get the one that was always on charge in Anna Lynn's bedroom.
Going up the stairs wasn't so bad. But Fate was still not feeling herself and when she tried going down the stairs she felt she should hold on to the railing for she didn't want to fall. But with the phone in one hand and the other hand on the railing, suddenly out of nowhere her sweaty hand was began to slip. As it did she stumbled and tripped and fell down the stairs into the ground. She hit the floor head first
She had falling down ten steps, which was about 12 feet high up. She laid on that floor still as a ghost for thirty minutes. And she wasn't waking up.Anna Lynn and baby Noah were the first ones to walk into the house that night. And as usual Noah jumped out of Anna's arms to begin to go find his Nana. (That's what he called Fate, Nana.)
" Nana? Nana?" He looked all around the dining room and kitchen, until suddenly he heard his mom scream out...
" Mom? Mom!" Anna was crying and it actually scared little Noah for he head never seen any grown up so upset before, this made him stay crying to as he watched his mother pick up the telephone in her mothers hand and call 911. She had then sat down next to her mother and laid her moms head down on her lap as she waited for someone to answer.
"911. What is your emergency?" The operator sounded bored.
"My mother has fallen down the stairs. I just got home, I have no idea how long she has been like this."
" Whats your address please so I can send out an ambulance, mam?"
" 2807 Carrolton drive, Alvin Texas." She said quickly.
"Please, miss, you can stay on the phone with me until the ambulance arrives, is she bleeding and do you know is she responding to you at all? Make sure you do not try and move her until help arrives."
" Oh! No, she isn't bleeding and I can tell she is breathing but no, she isn't responding to me at all."
Anna was freaking out. When the ambulance arrived about ten minutes later, Anna hung up the phone and called her dad. As she told Stephen what was going on his heart fell to the floor. He couldn't comprehend what he would do if he lost His Fate again, so he hurried home from work.
Fate was taken to the hospital where they said she must have had a large concussion when she hit the ground from her fall. They said they were not sure how long she would be in this coma for, for they were not at all sure what her head injury in telled yet. But they did know it was serious and she should stay in the hospital on life support until she wakes up.
But Stephen would have none of that. He wasn't going to let her stay in the hospital when he could just as easily bring her home and set up her a room with a new nurse at his home like he had done the last time she fell ill.
So she stayed in the hospital one week before finally moving back into their four bedroom house.
While he was moving her stuff from their bedroom back into her old room, where she would be for a while until she was better, he was looking through her chest of drawers and he found something unexpected.
It was her journals. Stephen didn't even know Fate had been writing in journals but as he opened them and began to read them he saw that she actually wrote in them all most every day. She had over ten whole journals they went all the way back to before she even met Stephen. He figured by reading the dates on them that she must have started writing sometime in the early 1980's right before she had met him. He wished he could ask her if she had any more from earlier but she was still sleeping in her trance and he couldn't. This made him feel upset but he was very interested in reading all of them. He knew it may take him a while but he figured 'well I have some spare time on my hands, maybe I will read them when I go and visit her every day.'
And that's exactly what he began to do. He thought at first maybe Fate would be mad at him for reading her journals but then he thought they shared every thing together, perhaps in this circumstance Fate wouldn't mind. I mean he just wanted to feel as close to her as possible, and the journal entry's she had written were as if she was alive again and with him again, even though she wasn't.
