I held Skylar in my arms as she coughed in my face.

"Arielle you gon get sick from her" I heard Geo say

I ignored him holding her close while rubbing her back.

"You're okay" she shook her head

I nodded handing her her bottle. She drank from it and I sighed, "Geo you wanna hang out after watching her?" I asked him

Fizz and Nancy forced us in watching Skylar. I came over to Geo's just to spend real quality time with him, and less then half a second Nancy was there with Skylar. I wasn't all the way upset. I thought that once Skylar fell asleep we could spend some time but then Geo's pop came.

I didn't wanna hang out with Geo anyways so whatever. Lately I haven't been feeling connected with anyone or anything. I've just felt sort of... empty, out of it, not "normal".

Skylar watched tv on the iPad. I was reading and responding to emails. Geo was making something for him to eat and Geo's dad sat quietly in the living room reading a newspaper.

I loved that about him. So regular and average. On his day off, he wakes up early and goes to hang out with coworkers. He reads the newspapers, and reads a few magazines, then he goes for a walk or to the field near the house to play soccer, then comes back does some work. Eats dinner, and is in bed by like 8.

I hope if Geo and I are still together he ends up like him or close to him. He won't.

"Whatchu wanna do?" He asked looking at me

"I just wanna hang. We. never. hang. out anymore."

I heard his phone vibrate.

"What are we doin right now?" He asked in a chuckle while texting away.

I wasn't laughing I was serious. His head was too focused on his phone to notice. I sighed closing Skylar's iPad. Her eyes kept closing, she was ready for a nap.

Less then two seconds she stretched her arms out trying to grab the iPad.

"No Skye it's nap time. You falling asleep on me" she coughed as her lips quivered.

"Skye c'mon why you crying when you know it's true" she stretched over grabbing it when I put it on the table holding her back from it.

"Da da!" She called out

"Da da ain't hea Skye you gon have to wait him out " Geo said chuckling

She began crying.

"Love bug why are you crying ?" Mr. Parks asked

She looked at him as drool slipped from her mouth.

"Yes I'm talking to you why are you crying?" He joked

She turned away from him and cried harder, "Ma ma da da !" She whined crying even harder

I wish I could cry and have no one acknowledge it. Just burst out in a cry just like Skye and not be judged. Too bad only babies got that pass.

Sigh.

"TT loves you" I said in a singy tone

She coughed laying her head on my chest as I cradled her straightening my shades. As soon as Skylar went to sleep I was leaving I don't care.

"Shhh" I said softly rocking her a luh.

"....mmmhmmm" I hummed

Then closed my eyes seeing my daddy, I sighed looking at her. Her big eyes stared at me, "I'll never forget where I come from, I'm from the bottom, these shoes on my feet, I remember how I got em when I didn't have a car." I closed my eyes just getting flashes after flashes from the past
